Use the convert program to convert between image formats as well as resize an image, blur, crop, despeckle, dither, draw on, flip, join, re-sample, and much more. The Image Magick graphics suite contains an extensive set of commandline tools which can do fast image processing operations on more than one file at a time. One of the commands included in this suite is "mogrify". EXAMPLE: "mogrify" can do alot of operations, all documented in its manual page. For the sake of example, I will show how to do a batch resize of all of the jpeg images in the current directory to 320x240

This web pages presents a set of examples using ImageMagick from the command line. However they are also examples of what can be done using the ImageMagick Application Programming Interface (API). As such these pages should be the first stop for IM users after reading the terse user manuals. Often the same questions of "How do I..." gets asked, over and over again on the network. The examples in these web pages I hope will answer most of the common 'how-to' questions that arise.

ImageMagick Usually when we talk about programs for editing images we think to graphic programs such as The Gimp or photoshop, but they are not the only alternative. ImageMagick is a suite of programs that you can use from command line to change and transform images, may seem more uncomfortable but it is actually a very powerful option to process many images in a short time or include image processing programs in web or bash scripts.
