Animate Anything Along an SVG Path | Codrops

https://tympanus.net/codrops/2022/01/19/animate-anything-along-an-svg-path/

Saved by uncleflo on November 14th, 2022.

Learn how to code creative animations using SVG paths and the getPointAtLength() function. SVG is a very neat format to display any illustration, icon or logo on a website. Furthermore, they can be animated in CSS or JavaScript to make them more attractive. But SVG can also be used for their data only, without the visual! Let me explain… An SVG is a vector image format, which means it is not made of coloured pixels, but math functions that, once interpreted, can be rendered on screen. Since the browser must convert the file from functions to actual pixels, it also let us access a wide variety of methods to either manipulate, or retrieve data from the math. In today’s article, we will explore the function getPointAtLength() and see how we can use the data of an SVG path for creative use cases such as the demo below.

Ancient recovery materials: Recovery and sale of building materials for renovation. All that is needed for a good renovation. Brick and Stone was born from the passion for grandpa Mario’s old stuff and the philosophy of “tomorrow can serve …”; after a life spent in the countryside as a farmer, in 1988 he moved leaving the farm and with it a series of materials apparently of no use and destined to be disposed of. Sorry for the end recipient and with some difficulty in finding it for Daniele and his grandfather begins the search for some possible buyer, but in the end with good results! At the same time, the young person begins to understand the difference between the various cooked, their epochs, their cooking, the stones, the portals, the stairs, the fireplaces and everything that is necessary and fundamental for a good renovation. ” From this experience for him the passion transmitted by his grandfather for all that is ancient or better … “old” is consolidated; and that slowly leads him to abandon his job as a worker to devote himself full time. In 1996, what is now Recuperando Brick & Stone was born, located in the heart of Tuscany, home of terracotta and sandstone, carefully selects and recovers ancient and precious materials for the renovation and construction of welcoming and original houses and environments. Spirit-Of-Tradition Registry: Swede 55 -- A Knud Reimers Design

https://stephenswaring.com/swede-55-vortex/

Saved by uncleflo on February 12th, 2022.

Surprisingly undocumented for a design this important — most searches for the “Vortex 55” lead to a hand mixer — these Knud Reimers boats were among the first group to sound the starting gun for the modern Spirit-of-Tradition narrative. Drawn in 1975, the Swede 55 was all about Reimers adapting a square-meter rule, popular for that time,  to a mass-produced, fiberglass 53-foot day-sailer. Something like 35 were built between about 1975 and 1985, with names like Tiana, and Rosina. What matters today is, if you look carefully at the original design to the right, is how Reimers lays out most of the arguments of the Spirit-of-Tradition continuum: A traditional looking overhanging bow and stern, a slender hull matched to a modern keel and spade rudder — all with the most current rig and sails of the time. But what makes the design indispensable is how, back in the late 1980s Steve White, owner of Maine’s Brooklin Boat Yard, decided the Swede 55 would speak to his interests more if built out of composite wood construction. White had Reimers make a few tweaks for the build; and after a reported 7,000 man-hours of production (whoa!), a cold-molded wood layup of this modern-classic splashed into Maine’s Jericho Bay in 1990, christened as Vortex. We’ll save the ugly nitty-gritty of finessing the Spirit-of-Tradition principles into the constrained square-meter rule at the heart of this boat for another day. But still, we’ve sailed Vortex a lot. We’re in a few of these photos and videos, if you look carefully. And we can honestly report, of all the Spirit-of-Tradition boats we’ve sailed and designed, the Swede 55 is as pure a modern-classic as any vessel afloat. The Swede 55 may be from another era. But she still matters today.

The Swede 55 was conceived in 1975 by naval architect Knud Reimers of Denmark. He is best known for his design of square meter class yachts and the Udell International. The Swede 55 was a stock design and to this day remains a very popular boat. The Swede 55 was built by Fiskastra Varb shipyard. Upon request of some of Stockholms KSSS members, Reimers designed the Swede 55 as a cruising ocean racing square meter yacht. The Swede 55’s design has an elevated freeboard, a comfortable center-cockpit, a nominal sail area of 55 square meters and additional volume below deck. She was inspired by Rolly Taskers “Siska”, a Knud Reimers 40 square meter boat modified for the Sydney-Hobart Race. The Swede 55 is a nimble, fast and exceptional performing sailing yacht; capable of handling rough seas and keeping her crew safe and comfortable. The boat was built to very high standards as an easily managed yacht. Whether cruising, racing or offshore pursuits, the Swede 55 is powered by a modest sail plan, easily managed by a shorthanded crew, yet offers a full cruising interior with practical accommodations. During this owners ownership, numerous upgrades have been made to her sail inventory, canvas, electronics, wiring, and overall appearance.

Journeying to South Africa after graduating with a photographic degree, I trained as a safari field guide. Observing, photographing and learning about the local flora and fauna. A truly awesome experience, which fed my passion about the animal world and animal behaviour, leading me to work in the animal care industry, a very important aspect of my life. Having also a great interest in human nature and the relationship we have with the natural world. My aim is to collaborate these interests to create images that not only reflect on human experience but to ponder the world that we find ourselves in. Understanding the world around us and how we connect to ourselves, and to one another can be a deeply therapeutic experience. Through first hand encounters, the written word or imagery, it can give a sense of clarity; From one moment, being amazed with the beautifully uniform textures of a clustered feather moss, to another, feeling saddened having just discovered the lifeless body a collard dove, moved by the way the foliage appears to be cradling its body like a loving mother. Ready for it's energy to be reclaimed by the earth. It's so easy to become disconnected to the world of nature, my wish is to be able to reconnect you with it. The natural world is an intrinsic part of our lives, it's very presence is integral for our survival and our well being.

“If you only say one prayer in a day, make it thank you.” (Rumi) This integration event is for all those who attended and co-created our SIN event on Friday 17th September. All hearts and voices are welcome. Magically, after the week begins with a Harvest Moon, our event coincides with the Autumnal Equinox, as we move from Summer into Autumn, and light into darkness. Night and day are of equal length, and in perfect equilibrium - dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer all in balance. It is:-a time of harvest, reaping the crops and fruits of the land and our labour-a time to give thanks for all our gifts - for the harvest, and each other. -a time to recognise the great boon of community-a time of pause and reflection, and the chance to think of what new seeds we will plant, and what we will let go of. What do we want to nourish us in the months ahead? What new world do we want to build together?

Prettier · Opinionated Code Formatter

https://prettier.io/

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

By far the biggest reason for adopting Prettier is to stop all the on-going debates over styles. It is generally accepted that having a common style guide is valuable for a project and team but getting there is a very painful and unrewarding process. People get very emotional around particular ways of writing code and nobody likes spending time writing and receiving nits. So why choose the “Prettier style guide” over any other random style guide? Because Prettier is the only “style guide” that is fully automatic. Even if Prettier does not format all code 100% the way you’d like, it’s worth the “sacrifice” given the unique benefits of Prettier, don’t you think?

Had to buy a few bags of quikrete and a 4x4 for the ramp posts, and some hardware for connecting the ramp to the posts and the ramp to the dock. All in all I have put in about $40 (and a week's worth of evening work at a leisurely pace). Not bad for a 12x14 dock with a 3.5x10 ramp for our half-acre pond!

The aim of the project is to create an easy to use, lightweight, cross-browser, general purpose 3D library. The current builds only include a WebGL renderer but WebGPU (experimental), SVG and CSS3D renderers are also available in the examples. The recommended format for importing and exporting assets is glTF (GL Transmission Format). Because glTF is focused on runtime asset delivery, it is compact to transmit and fast to load. three.js provides loaders for many other popular formats like FBX, Collada or OBJ as well. Nevertheless, you should always try to establish a glTF based workflow in your projects first. For more information, see loading 3D models.

Animations make websites look more polished and exciting, and help improve user experience. Explore how the combined potential of SVG and CSS can be leveraged to create animations without relying on external libraries. Animations are a ubiquitous part of the web. Unlike the flashing GIF images that plagued websites in the internet's earlier days, today's animations are more subtle and tasteful. Designers and front-end specialists use them to make websites look more polished, enhance the user experience, call attention to important elements, and convey information. Web developers can benefit from combining the power of SVG and CSS to create animations without using external libraries. This SVG animation tutorial shows how to build custom animations for real-world projects. Before animating SVGs with CSS, developers need to understand how SVGs work internally. Fortunately, it's similar to HTML: We define SVG elements with XML syntax and style them with CSS, just as if they were HTML.

A guitarist from Israel. Was playing guitar in several bands in the scene in Israel until I was 24 and then I left the country. For the last 10 years I’ve been traveling and living in many different places. About 6 years ago I needed a bit of cash so I started busking (playing in the streets) but I wanted to do it a bit differently so I picked up a loop station. Its a kind of an effect that lets you record (loop) yourself live and add some layers on top. That's when my affair with the looping started and I became an independent solo musician.
