You could call it one giant leap for 3D printing. California’s Rocket Lab just completed its 100th additive-printed Rutherford Engine as it targets cheaper rocket launches and space missions. The company has been on a tear since it created the world’s first 3D-printed, electric turbo-pump fed engine in 2013. Since then, it's launched 70 Rutherford engines to space with various companies—with the most recent one being on June 29. “The Rutherford engine has played an integral part in enabling Rocket Lab to make frequent and reliable launch a reality for small satellites,” Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck said in a statement. “It’s a testament to our innovative design and manufacturing teams that we’ve achieved everything we set out to do in just a few short years; an entirely new type of rocket engine that delivers unmatched performance, boasts a proven record of 100% launch reliability and can be manufactured quickly and efficiently.” From here, the production is going to step up. The company plans to produce 200 Rutherford engines in the next year, on the back of improved 3D printing facilities in Huntington Beach, California. These engines will launch from Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand, and Launch Complex 2 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Wallops Island, Virginia.

Product Specifications: PSS Type A Seal Dimensions The Type A PSS Shaft Seal is a mechanical face seal. The sealing surface is created between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is attached to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, and the back end of the bellows fits over the Stern tube and is secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is fitted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows before the rotor is secured to the shaft with set screws. This compression (pre-load) maintains constant contact between the two flat faces of the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing the PSS to compensate for the variable fore and aft movement due to propeller thrust. In addition, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter allowing it to “float” around the shaft and thus compensate for most misalignment and vibration problems. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and stainless-steel rotor and do not experience wear during operation.

The JetTENDER: Idea is to make really light and practical jet tender boat. Why? Because, strangely?, there is no such product on the market. All available Jet tenders are simply to big, to heavy - more than 290 kg, unpractical and expensive. Our goal is to make Jet tender which will be possible to handle on smaller yachts and sailboards which do not have lifting equipment, where storage have limited space or transom platform is not suitable for big and heavy boats. We believe that there is no need for strong engine. Big engine is heavy, uneconomical, require to much space and in fact you can not exploit all power. Thanks to small engine and joystick steering we could remove bulky steering console. Our concept have more inside space for passengers and cargo than much bigger boats. We managed to incorporate two covered storages and one on aft side is very big. The seriesOne shaft seal was designed for smaller, single-engine vessels with stainless steel propeller shafts. This shaft seal fits shaft diameters from 7/8 through 1 1/4 in 1/8 increments. It can also be used on metric stainless shafting from 25mm through 30mm. The seriesOne shaft seal is covered by a one year warranty. Tides Marine suggests that all twin-engine applications use the Tides SureSeal. The seriesOne housing is produced in the same manner as the SureSeal shaft seals. However, in order to produce a shaft seal for our more cost-conscious customers, the front cap design of the seriesOne has been modified. For vessels powered by smaller diesel engines (1-3 cylinders) using softer engine mounts, the multi-convolution articulating hose is recommended.
