It's time to talk about front-end. This guide will walk you through the localization of JavaScript apps using jQuery.I18n by Wikimedia, Polyglot by Airbnb, and Globalize by jQuery. Internationalization (dubbed as i18n) and localization (l10n) are very important (though often hard) steps for any application that is going to be used worldwide. In one of our previous articles, we saw how to implement I18n at the backend powered by Ruby on Rails, but today it’s time to talk about frontend. This guide will walk you through JavaScript Localization from A to Z, using the following solutions: All of these solutions are quite different and have their own specifics, so we’ll see them all in action. The source code is available at GitHub.

This page describes a few popular React toolchains which help with tasks. The toolchains recommended on this page don’t require configuration to get started. If you don’t experience the problems described above or don’t feel comfortable using JavaScript tools yet, consider adding React as a plain <script> tag on an HTML page, optionally with JSX. This is also the easiest way to integrate React into an existing website. You can always add a larger toolchain if you find it helpful! Create React App is a comfortable environment for learning React, and is the best way to start building a new single-page application in React.

Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well. If you want to create robust, browser-based regression automation suites and tests, scale and distribute scripts across many environments, then you want to use Selenium WebDriver, a collection of language specific bindings to drive a browser - the way it is meant to be driven. If you want to create quick bug reproduction scripts, create scripts to aid in automation-aided exploratory testing, then you want to use Selenium IDE; a Chrome and Firefox add-on that will do simple record-and-playback of interactions with the browser.

Welcome to the PowerShell GitHub Community! PowerShell Core is a cross-platform (Windows, Linux, and macOS) automation and configuration tool/framework that works well with your existing tools and is optimized for dealing with structured data (e.g. JSON, CSV, XML, etc.), REST APIs, and object models. It includes a command-line shell, an associated scripting language and a framework for processing cmdlets. Although this repository started as a fork of the Windows PowerShell code base, changes made in this repository do not make their way back to Windows PowerShell 5.1 automatically. This also means that issues tracked here are only for PowerShell Core 6 and higher. Windows PowerShell specific issues should be opened on UserVoice. If you are new to PowerShell and would like to learn more, we recommend reviewing the getting started documentation.

Gear Generator is a tool for creating involute spur gears and download them in DXF or SVG format. In addition it let you compose full gear layouts with connetcted gears to design multiple gears system with control of the input/output ratio and rotation speed. Gears can be animated with various speed to demonstrate working mechanism. Why this tool was created? Just for fun. I'm working on a hobby project, a scale construction machine, which needed some spur gears, and I quickly made a simple spur gear creator script in Javascript with SVG output. As it was done, I couldn't stop, and I added more and more features, and finally I got this tool. It was a pleasure to code the whole thing, I'm a bit sad it is already done.

Let's look at a common task that a developer does in their day-to-day job. A database table is to be modified for its data and/or structure. Before making any changes, the first thing that is always wise to do is to back up the database table. The easy way to accomplish this is to write a piece of SQL script like below. The scenario is we're going to make some changes to Products table, so here we go. Copy and paste the following SQL to your SQLyog free Community Edition query window. Note that the SQL needs to end with semi-colon if you have multiple queries in the query window. Most of the queries in the tutorials need Northwind MySQL database, you can download the database script on this page.

Every once in a while I get on a computer and I need to count the number of lines in a file. My first instinct is to open my text editor (editplus) and hit ctrl+end to get to the bottom of the document. Then I can view the status bar which will tell me the line number. This works fine when I am on my computer but not when I am on another computer that does not have editplus installed. My next option might be to open this file in notepad and do the exact same thing. This will work fine if the file is not to large. The problem is I often deal with very large files. I need a quicker way to produce the same results. This is where DOS comes into play. I can use the following command and let DOS quickly tell me the number of lines in the file.

The first and most important point is that the primary use of locking is to solve concurrency problems. If scripts are being implemented that write to the database but aren't multistep operations susceptible to the problems described in the last section, locks aren't needed. Simple scripts that insert one row, delete one row, or update one row, and that don't use results of a previous SELECT or data entered by the user as input, don't require a lock.

phpminiadmin - extremely lightweight alternative to heavy phpMyAdmin for quick and easy access MySQL databases. Instead of installing huge phpMyAdmin (~11Mb) and trying to figure out how to use all it's features, just upload one ~30Kb file and it's ready to use! Then access it via the browser (ex. http://yoursite.com/phpminiadmin.php). Script will ask you for DB login/pwd. After successfull db login you will see area where you able to enter any SQL commands (select, update, insert, etc.). Even if you don't know SQL it's still easy to: browse tables and see all the data, click to un/highlight rows
manage tables in DB, export and import data to .sql and CSV using 'quick links' on the top bar (see screenshots), see what databases you have permission with, check server status and statistics, ability to do CRUD (i.e. insert, select, update, delete), and launch any SQL supported by any version of MySQL. And due to it's simplicity script really fast and need just a little server resources! (your hosting provider will be glad ;)

I have two *.sql files that I use when creating a new web site database. The first file creates all the tables. The second file populates some default records. I would like to execute these files from PHP. I also use the Zend_Framework, if that will help accomplish this? Answer: This question comes up from time to time. There's no good solution for running a .sql script directly from PHP. There are edge cases where statements common in a .sql script can't be executed as SQL statements. For example, the mysql tool has builtin commands that are not recognized by the MySQL Server, e.g. CONNECT, USE, and DELIMITER.

Is there any comprehensive list of characters that need to be escaped in Bash? Can it be checked just with sed? In particular, I was checking whether % needs to be escaped or not. I tried this and worked fine, without escaping %. Does it mean % does not need to be escaped? Was this a good way to check the necessity? And more general: are they the same characters to escape in shell and bash?

At the first Docker Helsinki Meetup for 2017 on January 17th, we heard about three interesting use cases of the ins and outs of how Docker is used in production at Solita, Zalando and Pipedrive. We also heard about the good, the bad and the ugly of running Docker in production. Solita's Use Case: Firstly, Heikki Simperi from Solita explained how his company uses Docker to handle the various apps and systems associated with their management of the Finnish National Railway Service (VR), as well as the problems they've run into when using Docker. Solita runs a variety of their own apps on Docker, including a navigator for train drivers, a construction notification system and a traffic controller app. Heikki reiterated that it's important for the downtime to be minimal when the apps involved are ones responsible for railway management and that "anything over a 3-5 min downtime causes delays for trains, but nobody dies". Most of the issues they experienced using Docker were related to building an image, having a private repository, removing or starting up a container, or a bug inside an app. Overall, the running usage of the Docker platform has been stable, with "zero downtime". The problems have lessened after upgrading to each new Docker version and they are experiencing less and less problems as time goes on. They are looking forward to the release of Docker 1.12 on a stable channel from Red Hat.

So I have this friend. I've told him time and time again how dangerous XSS vulnerabilities are, and how XSS is now the most common of all publicly reported security vulnerabilities -- dwarfing old standards like buffer overruns and SQL injection. But will he listen? No. He's hard headed. He had to go and write his own HTML sanitizer. Because, well, how difficult can it be? How dangerous could this silly little toy scripting language running inside a browser be?

This checklist is intended to be used as an aide memoire for experienced pentesters and should be used in conjunction with the OWASP Testing Guide. It will be updated as the Testing Guide v4 is progressed. The intention is that this guide will be available as an XML document, with scripts that convert it into formats such as pdf, Media Wiki markup, HTML etc. This will allow it to be consumed within security tools as well as being available in a format suitable for printing. All feedback or offers of help will be appreciated - and if you have specific changes you think should be made, please log in and make suggestions.

Sometimes there's a need to ensure only one copy of a script runs, i.e prevent two or more copies running simultaneously. Imagine an important cronjob doing something very important, which will fail or corrupt data if two copies of the called program were to run at the same time. To prevent this, a form of MUTEX (mutual exclusion) lock is needed. The basic procedure is simple: The script checks if a specific condition (locking) is present at startup, if yes, it's locked - the scipt doesn't start. This article describes locking with common UNIX® tools. There are other special locking tools available, But they're not standardized, or worse yet, you can't be sure they're present when you want to run your scripts. A tool designed for specifically for this purpose does the job much better than general purpose code.

There are many ways to handle any task on a Unix platform, but some techniques that are used to process a file waste a lot of CPU time. Most of the wasted time is spent in unnecessary variable assignment and continuously opening and closing the same file over and over. Using a pipe also has a negative impact on the timing. In this article I will explain various techniques for parsing a file line by line. Some techniques are very fast and some make you wait for half a day. The techniques used in this article are measurable, and I tested each technique with time command so that you can see which techniques suits your needs.
