Concrete pontoons stand out in contrast to other pontoons for its stability and durability. The concrete pontoons are filled with foam plastic and are resistant to freezing in as well as to salt water exposure. The pontoons, from the heavier breakwaters made of concrete to the lighter ones made of wood, are designed to last for 30-50 years. The all concrete and styrofoam construction of the pontoon produces a very high degree of buoyancy thus making it virtually unsinkable. It is practically maintenance-free and has little or no impact upon Nature and the Environment. Each standard pontoon is designed to accept electrical and water supply services.

Properly scrubbing your hands is one of the best ways to stop the spread of germs and viruses and to ensure you don’t get sick. But if you don't have access to soap and clean water, or if you're nowhere near a sink, you should carry hand sanitizer to protect your health. As you're no doubt aware, bottles of hand sanitizer (Purell, Wet Ones, and the like) keep selling out due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. You can check these Amazon and Walmart listings to see if any are in stock, but make sure you're not buying mass-manufactured sanitizer that uses methanol, or wood alcohol, which can be toxic when absorbed through the skin or ingested (check here to see hand sanitizer brands to avoid). Also, don't drink the sanitizer, or any cleaning products, including bleach. It may be hard to find that Purell, but making your own sanitizer is remarkably easy. You just have to be careful you don't mess it up and that the tools you use for mixing are properly sanitized; otherwise you could contaminate the whole thing. Also, the World Health Organization recommends letting your concoction sit for a minimum of 72 hours after you're done. That way the sanitizer has time to kill any bacteria that might have been introduced during the mixing process.

The TABARKA lies upside down in 12m of water to the south of the INVERLANE. The only passages in and out of the inverted ship are the blast holes which caused her to sink. The two main areas of interest in the TABARKA are the quarry full of boulders (loaded into the vessel to help her sink quickly). The second is the substantial boiler room. Here, three huge boilers have dropped from their mounting points.

Plastimo's high resistance flexible water tanks are a reliable, practical and low cost solution to the storage of fresh water on board. As the water tanks are flexible, light and form-fitting, they can be fitted in awkward, difficult to access areas that it would not normally be possible to fit a standard rigid water tank. The tanks consist of a welded non-porous tasteless PVC water chamber that is located inside a tough nylon envelope for complete watertightness and resistance to tearing and abrasion. This double envelope design makes maintenance easy, as the inner chamber can be easily removed from the outer protective envelope for routine cleaning and examination. The water tanks are supplied complete, ready to install, with a 38mm diameter inlet fitting and 12mm diameter outlet.

If you encounter problems or need to carry out routine maintenance on your boat's engine then the following steps can be taken. For most small boats that have portable outboard engines which can be easily removed, cleaning and repair work can be carried out at home or in a repair shop. Larger craft, such as cabin cruisers, powerboats and larger yachts, which are powered by diesel or gasoline inboard or inboard-outboard engines, may have to have ther engines removed for major overhauls. Once the problem has been established you may need to contact a supplier to obtain the specialist part. Watercraft Services (UK) are Manufacturers, Importers and Distributors of Aftermarket Marine Engine components, including Starters, Alternators, Exhaust Manifolds, Drive components and many other items.

The rquirement is to lift the boat's hull outside the water. Hydrofoil (It is a foil or wing under water used to lift the boat's hull until it is totally outside the water.) Explanation: 1. At low speeds the hull (body of ship) sits in the water and the hydrofoils are totally submerged in the water. 2. As the boat's speed increases, the hydrofoils create lift. 3. At a certain speed, the lift produced by the hydrofoils equals the sum of of the boat and cargo weights. Therefore the hull comes out of the water. 4. Instead of having an increase in drag with increasing speed because the hull is lifted out of the water (contrary to what happens in traditional boats due to pressure drag), the hydrofoils provide a more efficient way of cruising. Decreasing the drag contributes to the better use of the power needed for the movement of the boat.

Suitable for new builds, home extensions and retrofitting, the Showersave QB1-21 and Showersave QB1-21C use the heat from the water flowing out of the shower to warm up the cold water going in. This simple heat exchange mechanism means that you spend less money on electricity or gas heating up the water to your shower. Can also be installed under "shower over bath" plumbing situations. WRAS approved. The hot and cold waters are kept separate by the double walled copper pipe design. An efficiency of +60% depending on flow rate. The QB1-21 superseds the old RECOH-VERT RV3 system. The unit is exactly the same size, however the energy efficiency has been improved. The Cyclone Top Fitting increases the efficiency of the Showersave by making the hot waste shower water swirl around and down through the central copper pipe of the Showersave. This increases the amount of time the hot water is in contact with copper pipe to maximise heat transfer. Greater heat recovery is achieved with the Cyclone top.

Compact but powerful, versatile, and capable of reaching speeds comparable to 500 hp speed boats, the XFoil is a three-in-one watercraft that allows you to ride on the surface of the water or fly above it. As fun as water sports can be, they are also money guzzlers. Especially if you want to make the best of them. Not everyone can afford to buy both a surfboard and a SUP (stand-up paddleboard), or a hydrofoil board, although it would be nice to be able to ride all of them. Designed in Silicon Valley, California, by PLX Devices, XFoil promises to offer the perfect solution: a watercraft that can serve as all of the above, while also making you feel like you’re in a high-performance speed boat. Everything is wrapped in a compact, lightweight, and durable package that’s small enough to fit in your mid-size sedan.

This is the choice of the shop with the added extra of a convenience zip. If you are looking for a drysuit for dinghy sailing then you can't get any better than this. It has all the features you need and doesn't have ones that you don't, chest pockets and hand warmer pockets for example which you would be unable to access whilst dinghy sailing as they would be constricted by your buoyancy aid. We wear this suit for dinghy sailing in the winter as do many of our customers at our local sailing club. Featuring a soft, 4 layer, highly breathable and waterproof fabric combined with the high fleecy neck make this a very comfortable and warm suit to wear. Living north of the Arctic Circle meant learning fear and its power to motivate in the face of danger—whether from a bear or climate change. How long did I walk in the footsteps of the bear? It was a warm day, 20 years ago and 80 miles north of the Arctic Circle, the sky translucent blue behind low mountains. The tundra, just starting to turn autumn crimson and saffron, held all my attention. Eventually, I looked down at the trail. And there: the ovoid front paw prints, claws puncturing a constellation into the mud inches above each toe, trailed by back feet as long as two hand spans. Grizzly. Next to them, indentations from my boots. Both filling slowly with water.

At the time of the Chernobyl accident, on 26 April 1986, the Soviet Nuclear Power Programme was based mainly upon two types of reactors, the WWER, a pressurised light-water reactor, and the RBMK, a graphite moderated light-water reactor. While the WWER type of reactor was exported to other countries, the RBMK design was restricted to republics within the Soviet Union. The Chernobyl Power Complex, lying about 130 km north of Kiev, Ukraine, and about 20 km south of the border with Belarus (Figure 1), consisted of four nuclear reactors of the RBMK-1000 design, Units 1 and 2 being constructed between 1970 and 1977, while Units 3 and 4 of the same design were completed in 1983 (IA86). Two more RBMK reactors were under construction at the site at the time of the accident. To the South-east of the plant, an artificial lake of some 22 km2 , situated beside the river Pripyat, a tributary of the Dniepr, was constructed to provide cooling water for the reactors.

Cave diving is a true thrillseeker’s pastime regarded as one of the world’s most dangerous extreme sports, as you venture into the unknown – especially when passing through a sump where the tunnel is completely submerged in water. As a cave diver it is essential to protect your own safety. Plenty of lighting for good visibility, breathing apparatus to keep you supplied with oxygen, and a guide line that you can follow to find your exit are essential. Remember that underwater cave system sumps can be hundreds of feet long and may be blocked or open out into caverns where there is no oxygen, so the correct breathing equipment for technical diving is a must. We strongly advise being a part of the Cave Diving Group and undertaking extensive cave diving courses before you are ready to venture into new locations yourself. For those qualified, here are ten of the best cave diving locations in the UK:

Cave certification is a process, with progressive steps to gradually increase your skills. Our end goal is that you are confident to independently cave dive without a guide. Accomplishing this requires much more work than simply training someone to follow a guide, and you will notice that our courses are longer and more rigorous than most. While the initial investment to reach this level is high, cave diving with a buddy is inexpensive once you are certified – and we have an alumni network to help you find buddies! We also offer unique opportunites for our former students at low or no cost, such as science and mapping projects.

Got lucky enough to snag a truckload of treated lumber on Craigslist for FREE. Had a friend with a hookup for the barrels for FREE. Already had nails and screws. Had to buy a few bags of quikrete and a 4x4 for the ramp posts, and some hardware for connecting the ramp to the posts and the ramp to the dock. All in all I have put in about $40 (and a week's worth of evening work at a leisurely pace). Not bad for a 12x14 dock with a 3.5x10 ramp for our half-acre pond!

If you want to build a pier or a dock, you need good, sturdy pilings or posts to support it. Unless you have the heavy equipment to drive the pilings into the ground, you’ll either need to use a jet of water to dig a deep hole or set the pilings in concrete footers. Jetting is better for sandy soil, while concrete is more stable for muddy beds. Although this project may require some special tools and a couple of people to lend a helping hand, you’ll be able to enjoy fun on the waterfront for years to come! If you need to install posts in the water for a dock or a pier, measure and cut pilings made of pressure-treated wood. The pilings should be the length you need to support your structure, plus an extra 4-6 feet that you can bury in the ground. Have some friends help you stand the first piling in the water, then aim the tip of a high-powered hose or a water jetter at the base of the piling and turn on the pump. The force of the water should blast away the sand and mud beneath the wood, creating a hole so you can sink the piling. Keep reading to learn how to pour concrete posts!
