Luxembourg makes all public transport free | CNN Travel

https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/luxembourg-free-public-transport/index.html

Saved by uncleflo on February 13th, 2022.

Landlocked Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in Europe, with the highest per capita GDP in the European Union.
Taking up 2,586 square kilometers, Luxembourg is roughly the size of Rhode Island. From the capital of Luxembourg City, Belgium, France and Germany can all be reached by car in half an hour. High housing costs, especially in Luxembourg City, mean more than 180,000 of its workforce commute from those neighboring countries every day. "Luxembourg is a very attractive place for jobs," explains Geoffrey Caruso, a professor at the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research specializing in land use and transportation. But its "booming economy" and high concentration of jobs have led to congestion issues, he says.

Three.js – JavaScript 3D Library

https://threejs.org/

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

The aim of the project is to create an easy to use, lightweight, cross-browser, general purpose 3D library. The current builds only include a WebGL renderer but WebGPU (experimental), SVG and CSS3D renderers are also available in the examples. The recommended format for importing and exporting assets is glTF (GL Transmission Format). Because glTF is focused on runtime asset delivery, it is compact to transmit and fast to load. three.js provides loaders for many other popular formats like FBX, Collada or OBJ as well. Nevertheless, you should always try to establish a glTF based workflow in your projects first. For more information, see loading 3D models.

A Step-by-Step Guide to JavaScript Localization – The Phrase Blog – Software Localization Experts

https://phrase.com/blog/posts/step-step-guide-javascript-localization/

Saved by uncleflo on May 11th, 2021.

It's time to talk about front-end. This guide will walk you through the localization of JavaScript apps using jQuery.I18n by Wikimedia, Polyglot by Airbnb, and Globalize by jQuery. Internationalization (dubbed as i18n) and localization (l10n) are very important (though often hard) steps for any application that is going to be used worldwide. In one of our previous articles, we saw how to implement I18n at the backend powered by Ruby on Rails, but today it’s time to talk about frontend. This guide will walk you through JavaScript Localization from A to Z, using the following solutions: All of these solutions are quite different and have their own specifics, so we’ll see them all in action. The source code is available at GitHub.

Example Firefox add-ons created using the WebExtensions API WebExtensions are a way to write browser extensions: that is, programs installed inside a web browser that modify the behavior of the browser or web pages loaded by the browser. WebExtensions are built on a set of cross-browser APIs, so WebExtensions written for Google Chrome, Opera, or Edge will, in most cases, run in Firefox too.

Work with the Bookmarks API - Mozilla | MDN

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Work_with_the_Bookmarks_API

Saved by uncleflo on April 17th, 2021.

Bookmarks enable users to collect and organize lists of web pages, so they can easily get back to their favorites. Using the Bookmarks API, your extensions can manipulate bookmarks in much the same way users can. To make use of the Bookmarks API, you need to ask for the "bookmarks" permission in your extension’s manifest.json file: The Bookmarks API lets your extension do the things users can do with bookmarks and includes functions for: To gain an understanding of how to work with the Bookmarks API let’s take a look at the bookmark-it example. This example adds a toolbar icon (browserAction) which, when clicked, adds or removes the current page from bookmarks. If the page is bookmarked (or removed from bookmarks) in some other way, the icon is updated to show the state of the page’s bookmarking.

Airbrushing “Off the Grid” ~ Luthiery Laboratories

https://luthierylabs.com/laboratory/finishing/spraying/airbrushing-off-the-grid/

Saved by uncleflo on April 3rd, 2021.

On the left is my excellent Preval vFan airbrush that Home Depot gave me to evaluate. You can see the hose has a standard 1/4″ male QD connector installed. On the right is a pressure regulator, with a standard female QD connector on the outlet side, and a scuba-to-NPT adapter on the inlet side. Plug that into an inflator hose on a scuba regulator, and set your output pressure on the inline regulator. A scuba regulator outputs about 140 psi, roughly the same as a compressor, while the airbrush wants 20-40 psi. The flow rate is more than adequate to drive the airbrush, and breathing air is already super-clean, so no filter necessary. A typical scuba tank holds 80-100 cuft at around 3000 psi, and costs well under $10 to refill at the dive shop. The vFan spec is 5 cfm at 20 psi, which works out to over 15 minutes of continual spraying, or several hours under real conditions. This could even drive a bigger spray gun for a useful amount of time, but I don’t think I will ever use it for anything but the airbrush, since Home Depot also gave me a nice compressor. It’s like Christmas every month.

This project is totally inspired from Aaron Magnin's Fusion 360 Tutorial in Autodesk Youtube Channel. I took a screenshot of the completed model and completed the model according to what I have learned from the tutorial. It was totally fun and a good example to show the power and simplicity of Fusion 360. I hope it will be useful to anyone interested as well. I watched this video and I fully enjoyed the lesson.

UTF-8 Sampler

http://kermitproject.org/utf8.html

Saved by uncleflo on June 23rd, 2019.

UTF-8 is an ASCII-preserving encoding method for Unicode (ISO 10646), the Universal Character Set (UCS). The UCS encodes most of the world's writing systems in a single character set, allowing you to mix languages and scripts within a document without needing any tricks for switching character sets. This web page is encoded directly in UTF-8. This, however, is a Web page, which started out as a kind of stress test for UTF-8 support in Web browsers, which was spotty when this page was first created in the 1990s but which has become standard in all modern browsers. The problem now is mainly the fonts and the browser's (or font's) support for the nonzero Unicode planes (as in, e.g., the Braille
and Gothic examples below). And to some extent the rendition of combining sequences, right-to-left rendition (Arabic,
Hebrew), and so on. The subtitle above shows currency symbols of many lands. If they don't appear as blobs, we're off to a good start!

Saved by uncleflo on November 29th, 2018.

In the last few years Robot integrator T&D in collaboration with a leading supplier of natural stone, Marmi e Graniti d'Italia (MGI), has applied its technology and innovation for applications in the stone industry. One of the latest frontiers in the field is definitely the interaction between ABB robots and natural stone. Using the creation of a replica of artist Amedeo Modigliani's infamous "HEAD" sculpture in white granite, T&D explored the application of a robotic milling system to evaluate whether industrial robots are capable of the demands and challenges that processing stone requires. The results of the experiment surpassed all expectations offering a quality of cut comparable to CNC machinery. The possibility of perfecting the approach, integrating milling and polishing, is currently being explored in collaboration with ABB integrator T&D Robotics.

Boat Sales UK - Running Costs

What does owning a canal boat cost? Every owner is different, they cruise for longer or shorter periods, moor in different areas of the country under many different conditions, some in purpose built marinas others alongside a farmers field with no facilities. The actual cost will therefore vary with the circumstances; however, the following will give a guide to the new boater. The example given is for a 55ft boat, originally built to provide a reasonably high standard of comfort including a diesel generator. It has a reasonably high usage of about 100 days per year and is maintained to a reasonably high standard without being excessive.

SAILBOATDATA.COM is a database that contains information on nearly 8000 production and semi-production sailboats dating back to 1900. Boats are generally listed using their class designation rather than the manufacturer or builder name. For example a BENETEAU FIRST 456 will be listed as FIRST 456 (BENETEAU) One could also go to the BUILDERS section and search BENETEAU. All the boats built by BENETEAU should be listed within that title. Search results default to alphabetical, 25 per page. Use SORT BY: to switch your results to sort by year built or LOA.

Modern construction, smart design, and practical engineering keep the new MJM 50z at the top of her game, and ready to make her owners very happy. Commercially driven industrial design often breeds a certain level of ennui, because the results frequently look remarkably similar. We can’t blame the designers or the manufacturers. They merely have responded to the public’s whims and fancies, which can make or break any new product. The MJM 50z, on the other hand, has a distinctive personality, derived in equal measure from CEO Bob Johnstone’s knowledge of which features mean the most to the owners—ease of use, comfort, and pride of ownership—and Doug Zurn’s artful rendering of those features.

The world’s first watch equipped with a mechanism for thermal power generation. The thermal power elements generate electricity from the temperature difference between the body and atmosphere and store it as energy in a secondary battery. A full charge keeps the watch running for about 10 months. The Thermic generates electric power via the Seebeck effect, a phenomenon produced when heat transfers from the back of the case to the case surface. To improve energy efficiency further, a power-saving mechanism stops the second hand whenever the watch is removed from the wrist.

Let's look at a common task that a developer does in their day-to-day job. A database table is to be modified for its data and/or structure. Before making any changes, the first thing that is always wise to do is to back up the database table. The easy way to accomplish this is to write a piece of SQL script like below. The scenario is we're going to make some changes to Products table, so here we go. Copy and paste the following SQL to your SQLyog free Community Edition query window. Note that the SQL needs to end with semi-colon if you have multiple queries in the query window. Most of the queries in the tutorials need Northwind MySQL database, you can download the database script on this page.
