Paphos International Sailing Club (known as PISC) was formed in 1999 by a group of sailing enthusiasts, the purpose being to promote all aspects of sailing and boating in Cyprus. During the early years of the Club's existence, activities for the most part involved the sharing of common interests and knowledge in a social setting. Today the Club consists of three active sections: Power Boating, Dinghy Sailing and Offshore Cruising. The aims of the Club remain the same, which is to promote sailing and boating in a friendly self-help Club with great atmosphere. We offer various boating events throughout the year, including Dinghy Regattas, Power Boat Treasure Hunts and Cruising Rallies in the Meditteranean, as well as numerous social get-togethers such as Beach Barbeques, Quiz Nights, Ten-pin Bowling and Dinner-Dances. Right now, I’m on a mission to rebuild a 111-year old (as of 2021) English sailing yacht called Tally Ho. Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel – but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her. I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular earlier this year, and am now starting to rebuild her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK. If you are interesting in supporting this mission you can do so here. I started the Sampson Boat Co in 2013 as a platform through which to work as a self-employed Boatbuilder. Since then I have also started writing about my sailing and boatbuilding projects, so this website has become a kind of blog, as well as a display of my work.

This site was created primarily for the prospective or newly established boat builder but has proven to be useful to boat owners. It is intended to be a reference for the beginning boat builder who has decided to build boats and sell them. It does not tell you how to build boats, although it has many links to such sites on Ike's List. It does tell you what things you need to know if you are building or planning to build boats and sell them. This is not just for wood boats, or fiberglass boats, but for all boats. The rules, regulations and standards here apply to all recreational boats. They apply primarily to small craft under 60 feet but that is not a hard and fast rule. For instance, all recreational boats are required to have a Hull Identification Number regardless of size. Another instance is gasoline fuel systems. The rules apply to all recreational boats with permanently installed gasoline engines. I will state at the beginning of each subject what it applies to because Federal Regulations define what vessels each regulation applies to and ABYC standards do so as well.

RP2040 Launches Rocket Flight Computer | Tom's Hardware

Putting Raspberry Pi boards into space is nothing new, but the method of achieving orbit often differs. While the Astro Pi computers headed for the final frontier onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, there are some decidedly lower-tech approaches including, as detailed on the Tindie blog, this $45 RP2040 flight computer from Finnish designer Dan Invents. Combining the RP2040 controller with an altimeter, accelerometer, temperature sensor, and enough juice to power two servo motors (for parachute deployment on the way down), the Rockit (rocket operation computing kit) weighs just 0.18oz (5g) and measures 1.73 x 0.9 x 0.35 inches (44 x 22 x 9 mm). It comes with an open-source firmware pre-installed, and can be tinkered with and updated over micro USB. There's a 16-position rotary switch for adjusting parameters such as start and end positions for the servos, and also a buzzer, so you can more easily find your rocket after a successful landing. Compared to the 2MHz Apollo guidance computer that deposited Neil Armstrong on the Moon, the RP2040 is a powerhouse, and should be more than capable of altitude-based parachute opening and logging flight data from the sensors to a micro SD card. The kit, which costs $44.99, comes with just the board and its pin headers - you need to supply your own battery, servos, cabling, micro SD card and space suit.
