Along with other members of the 200 strong team, we designed and built a unique facility where all five campaign vessels were developed, built and tested. Trimarine’s experience in the management of yacht construction projects of any kind can be an asset to Designers, Owners and Boat builders. Photographer Max Siedentopf has a new project that examines one of the most boring types of photography: the passport photo. The series shows that even though passport photos need to be boring, the photo shoots themselves don’t.
Official passport photo requirements are extremely restrictive and specify the exact framing (centered with the subject facing straight on), lighting (a clear background with no shadow), and facial expression (no smiling). “It seems almost impossible for any kind of self-expression,” Siedentopf says. His project, titled Passport Photos, “tries to challenge these official rules by testing all the things you could be doing while you are taking your official document photo.”

As an entrepreneur, one of the most important tasks you can perform is getting your idea(s) out from your head into a tangible format so that you can communicate that with others. In the past, this usually meant a well-researched business plan, that would usually take weeks (more like months) to create. I turn to the Lean Canvas to help me quickly formulate possible business models, product launches, campaigns and variations of, and communicate this with my stakeholders for my Lead Flow Method work. Having the Lean Canvas as a visual guide made this part “communicating the model/idea” so much more effective — and I think the most valuable function of the tool. The problem with business plans for startups & entrepreneurs are that they’re a waste of time, don’t get me wrong a well-researched business plan is important but only at the right stage of your business (usually when you’re in growth/investment). This quote from Steve Blank sums up this point in case: “Business Plan: a document investors make you write, that they don’t read”. By June 2010 Andy had a prototype formula which he used on a 1976 Kawasaki Police 1000, painting the album cover of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon on the rear box of the motorcycle. After he finished he took the bike to a hotel in Berea, Ohio to meet up with a group of friends and when they saw the iconic rainbow jutting from the prism flicker to life their jaws hit the floor….and Darkside Scientific was born. Andy and Shawn Mastrian created a team that continued the development of LumiLor to the world class product it is today. Sadly, Andy passed away in March 2015, however his legacy continues to move forward with a team that has the same goals and aspirations.

Shuttleworth Design grew out of John Shuttleworth Yacht Designs Ltd, a company founded by John Shuttleworth in 1980 to develop the knowledge of multihull design and engineering. John was one of the first yacht designers to develop the idea of "integrated design", a way of approaching the engineering and overall design as an integrated whole rather than a series of parts joined together. John also pioneered the use of computer aided design in multihulls and has always been a believer in research and development, often conducting tank tests and radio controlled model tests. This innovative approach resulted in boats that were lighter, stiffer, and stronger than any previous multihull designs, and put John Shuttleworth Yacht Designs firmly in the forefront of the field. John then successfully transferred this knowledge to cruising designs, an area that is under continual development. His designs have many ocean crossings behind them and Zeepoes (a 63 ft cruising catamaran) has completed two around the world voyages.

A very small fraction of this can be utilized by a thermoelectric device to power wearable devices.
