When it comes time to hunt down the ultimate in storage performance, you simply cannot settle for standard SSDs. Instead, look to PCI Express-based drives that circumvent the limitations of SATA. We have products from Fusion-io, LSI, and OCZ on the bench.

So even if you run The RevoDrive 3 (X2) as extra unit (secondary drive) you'll still need to install the host driver, if you look to your right you'll notice the unit as detected and uninstalled. Just click on the SCSI controller properties, point to and install the supplied driver and boom your storage unit is there for you. Simply go towards disk management, make a partition, do quick format and bind the unit to a device letter.
My system boot drive many moons ago was a WD Raptor and when that HD was crunching, you'd known the HDD was alive alright. That's just no longer a reality. You will look at the SSD wondering "is that thing even working?", while the Windows 7 logo has already appeared on your monitor.

In the OCZ RevoDrive3/zDrive R4 series, the "OCZ SuperScale Storage Controller" with "Virtualized Controller Architecture 2.0" really seems to be a Marvell 88SE9485 part, with OCZ firmware/BIOS. Developed and tested on OCZ RevoDrive3 120GB [PCI 1b85:1021] Should work on: - OCZ RevoDrive3 (2x SandForce 2281) - OCZ RevoDrive3 X2 (4x SandForce 2281) - OCZ zDrive R4 CM84 (4x SandForce 2281) - OCZ zDrive R4 CM88 (8x SandForce 2281) - OCZ zDrive R4 RM84 (4x SandForce 2582) - OCZ zDrive R4 RM88 (8x SandForce 2582) All of this because a friend recently bought a OCZ RevoDrive3 and was bitten by the lack of Linux support.

Due to limited option ROM space, it is often not possible to use the RevoDrive while the Onboard RAID Controller is enabled on many motherboards. You must set your BIOS to use S1 Sleep Mode for proper operation with the Revo/Ibis. Using S3 or AUTO sleep modes may cause instability. You must manually configure the Windows Defragmentation program to not automatically run on the RevoDrive.
