For mechanical hard drives the SATA 6Gbps interface is future-proofed for the foreseeable future, maybe even forever. When it comes to SSDs though, well, that's a different story. With the current crop of solid-state drives already knocking very hard on the door of the interface's bandwidth limit, we might have to start looking elsewhere for speedy SSDs.

Due to limited option ROM space, it is often not possible to use the RevoDrive while the Onboard RAID Controller is enabled on many motherboards. You must set your BIOS to use S1 Sleep Mode for proper operation with the Revo/Ibis. Using S3 or AUTO sleep modes may cause instability. You must manually configure the Windows Defragmentation program to not automatically run on the RevoDrive.

We have discussed the architecture of the various RAID implementations, you have been talked through the latest and greatest RAID components and you've seen a detailed view on the performance of eight of the most popular and most interesting SATA RAID solutions in desktop, workstation and server workloads. Furthermore, we have shown how the performance and features of the current generation SATA RAID adapters compares to the latest SCSI RAID solutions. This report has made clear that simplified comparisons based on characteristics such as port speed, bus or drive interface and the number of drives in a RAID array have absolutely no validity in real world situations.
