The result tables are simply split into two, one for the idle memory usage and one for the usage during a virus scan, both in alphabetical order. The colors are self explanatory with green the lightest antivirus and yellow second best. At the other end, red is the heaviest and orange the next most memory hungry. While these results obviously test the antivirus memory usage, they don’t take into account the features present in each application and its detection rates. Therefore you shouldn’t automatically assume lighter is better because a more memory efficient program might not have the amount of features of an antivirus using a few more Megabytes. If your current package is hungry for memory, this does give you a good idea of what the lightest antivirus packages are that you might like to look at a bit closer.

Damn Small Linux is a very versatile 50MB mini desktop oriented Linux distribution. Damn Small is small enough and smart enough to do the following things: Boot from a business card CD as a live linux distribution (LiveCD), Boot from a USB pen drive, Boot from within a host operating system (that's right, it can run *inside* Windows), Run very nicely from an IDE Compact Flash drive via a method we call "frugal install", Transform into a Debian OS with a traditional hard drive install, Run light enough to power a 486DX with 16MB of Ram, Run fully in RAM with as little as 128MB (you will be amazed at how fast your computer can be!), Modularly grow -- DSL is highly extendable without the need to customize

eZ Server Monitor (eSM) is a script for monitoring Linux servers. It is available in Bash version and Web application. In its Web version, eSM is a PHP script which provides a web page containing information such as the operating system, the number of users connected to the server, the system load, CPU, memory RAM, available disk space, bandwidth usage, and especially the port monitoring services such as FTP, SMTP, Web, etc ... Very simple and easy to install, eSM`Web is also very light. The goal of eZ Server Monitor is to be very easy to install and configure (no specific packages to install) but also to be nice and easy to use! The goal is absolutely not to create heavy and complex software to use. A configuration file allows you to customize various modules.

I'm finding myself coding a big project in Javascript. I remember the last one was quite an adventure because hacky JS can quickly becomes unreadable and I want this code to be clean. Well, I'm using objects to construct a lib, but there are several ways to define things in JS, implying important consequences in the scope, the memory management, the name space, etc.

If you receive warnings that your virtual memory is low, you'll need to increase the minimum size of your paging file. Windows sets the initial minimum size of the paging file equal to the amount of random access memory (RAM) installed on your computer, and the maximum size equal to three times the amount of RAM installed on your computer. If you see warnings at these recommended levels, then increase the minimum and maximum sizes.

In previous versions of Windows, you probably remember the good ol paging file. It’s used to when physical memory becomes overcommitted and it hold objects that usually have not been accessed in a long time. That is pagefile.sys. Next, we had the hibernate option in Windows that let you save the kernel and all applications to your hard drive so that you could start your computer back up faster than doing a full reboot. That is hiberfile.sys.

PhotoRec is file data recovery software designed to recover lost files including video, documents and archives from hard disks, CD-ROMs, and lost pictures (thus the Photo Recovery name) from digital camera memory. PhotoRec ignores the file system and goes after the underlying data, so it will still work even if your media's file system has been severely damaged or reformatted. PhotoRec is free - this open source multi-platform application is distributed under GNU General Public License (GPLV v2+). PhotoRec is a companion program to TestDisk, an application for recovering lost partitions on a wide variety of file systems and making non-bootable disks bootable again. You can download them from this link. For more safety, PhotoRec uses read-only access to handle the drive or memory card you are about to recover lost data from.

Linux RAM is composed of chunks of memory called pages. To free up pages of RAM, a “linux swap” can occur and a page of memory is copied from the RAM to preconfigured space on the hard disk. Linux swaps allow a system to harness more memory than was originally physically available. However, swapping does have disadvantages. Because hard disks have a much slower memory than RAM, server performance may slow down considerably. Additionally, swap thrashing can begin to take place if the system gets swamped from too many files being swapped in and out.

The CFA-10036 is a small, highly functional ARM9 based Linux SOM (System On Module). Our goals when we designed the CFA-10036 were low cost, ease of use, and lots of GPIO. We've provided four options to choose from, with a i.MX283 processor or a i.MX287 processor, with or without OLED display. Combine the powerful CFA10036 with a CFA10037 Development board everything you need for quick product prototyping. The CFA10037 provides Ethernet, USB, and debug UART connectivity and access to all the CFA10036's GPIO. We have provided two options, one with a i.MX283 processor or the i.MX287 processor.

Data is permanently recorded in the Bitcoin network through files called blocks. A block is a record of some or all of the most recent Bitcoin transactions that have not yet been recorded in any prior blocks. They could be thought of like the individual pages of a city recorder's recordbook (where changes to title to real estate are recorded) or a stock transaction ledger. In all but a few exceptional cases, new blocks are added to the end of the record (known in Bitcoin as the block chain), and once written, are never changed or removed. Each block memorializes what took place immediately before it was created.

Free & open source, high-performance, distributed memory object caching system, generic in nature, but intended for use in speeding up dynamic web applications by alleviating database load. Memcached is an in-memory key-value store for small chunks of arbitrary data (strings, objects) from results of database calls, API calls, or page rendering. Memcached is simple yet powerful. Its simple design promotes quick deployment, ease of development, and solves many problems facing large data caches. Its API is available for most popular languages.

Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Despite its small size, Rufus provides you with everything you need! Oh, and Rufus is fast. For instance it's about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer or Windows 7 USB download tool, on the creation of a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO (with honorable mention to WiNToBootic for managing to keep up). It is also marginally faster on the creation of Linux bootable USB from ISOs (1). A non exhaustive list of Rufus supported ISOs is also provided at the bottom of this page (2). Finally, please remember that once formatted, your drive is still usable as before to transfer data: it doesn't have to be dedicated for DOS or ISO installation only.
