Comparing x264 “RF” settings in Handbrake (examples) | mattgadient.com

Here, I’m taking a look at various RF settings in Handbrake, both in terms of visuals and filesize. I started with encodes from the “24” DVD (Season 6, Episode 1). If you have the same DVD and are looking to reproduce this test, the following settings were used: I tested the following RF values (listed in Handbrake under “Constant Quality”: 0, 10, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32 I’ll start with a few screenshots at different RF values. There’s a video below too, but it comes with a bit of a caveat so might not show everything well for you. Pictures should work for nearly everyone. Note that the first one (RF0) is for reference (lossless). Worth noting that x264’s psychovisual enhancements (trellis, etc) do a pretty good job of keeping detail where you’d notice it (the face), at the expense of the stuff you normally wouldn’t notice while watching (like those background areas). Of course, this only goes so far – once the RF value is high enough, there’s no saving Jack’s facial features from the effects of compression!

Test video quality 720p 1080p 1440p 2160p 4320p max bitrate which compresses youtube

Youtube video quality and bitrate… What kind of compression does YouTube use? Every time we post a video on Youtube will ALWAYS recompressed. Youtube DO NOT leaves intact the video posted. YouTube, and a few of the other video services, also automatically deliver different video codecs to different platforms like iOS or Windows. Youtube recommends sending videos with high bitrates but after several tests I have verified that it does not change the quality beyond a certain bitrate, it is more important the quality of the source of acquisition rather than the bitrate. How much does Youtube compress video sent? How much the bitrate is allocated to video based on resolutions, youtube will assign a different bitrate to each resolution, and use 2 types of CODEC (H264 and VP9)

Tutorials - FLV vs H.264 (F4V/MPEG4) - Simple Web TV | Your Own professional Video Portal, IPTV, WebTV, Video Web, Internet TV

Is a video format older than the H.264/MPEG4; it was used (and is still used) to distribute videos over the Internet through the Flash player, for this reason, it quickly became popular and turned into the standard for video distribution over the Internet. However, it is a format that in its beginning was based in a proprietary variation of the "old" H.263 (Sorenson Spark). Flash Player 8 made it possible to use a new kind of FLV, this time based on the On2 TrueMotion VP6 technology, that allowed to achieve higher quality videos at the expense of requiring more CPU power. Is the compression technology behind the MPEG4 format, this new format produces higher quality videos and smaller sized files respect to other compression technologies. It is the compression format most used today and it is the standard for distributing high definition (HD) content. But the quality has a price: in order to encode and decode H.264 videos it is required more CPU power.
