This is the Git reference site. This is meant to be a quick reference for learning and remembering the most important and commonly used Git commands. The commands are organized into sections of the type of operation you may be trying to do, and will present the common options and commands needed to accomplish these common tasks. Each section will link to the next section, so it can be used as a tutorial. Every page will also link to more in-depth Git documentation such as the official manual pages and relevant sections in the Pro Git book, so you can learn more about any of the commands. First, we'll start with thinking about source code management like Git does.

Git is the most hyped version control system at the moment and has been for some time now, but there is a reason for that. It’s fast, flexible, distributed (no network required), can communicate with Subversion, supports best development practices and the list goes on. We recommend using Git. This guide shows how to install and setup a Git Repository Server using Gitolite on Linux Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.04 Server and how to access the Server from a Linux client.

This is the former website of the Subversion software project, which now calls subversion.apache.org home. Until the transition into Apache-hood is complete, this site will continue to serve some of the purposes of the Subversion project. For example, the project is still using the issue tracker hosted here. But in time, it is expected that this site will be converted into mostly just a set of pointers to information that has moved over to the subversion.apache.org site. If you're looking for downloads of Subversion, visit our Source Code or Packages pages. Thanks for your patience as we work through this transition!

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, the Subversion project is on the verge of releasing version 1.5, a culmination of nearly two years of work. The release is jam-packed with some huge new features, but the one everyone’s excited about is “merge tracking”. Merge-tracking is when your version control system keeps track of how lines of development (branches) diverge and re-form together. Historically, open source tools such as CVS and Subversion haven’t done this at all; they’ve relied on “advanced” users carefully examining history and typing arcane commands with just the right arguments. Branching and merging is possible, but it sure ain’t easy. Of course, distributed version control systems have now started to remove the fear and paranoia around branching and merging—they’re actually designed around merging as a core competency. Subversion is now beginning to match features in larger, commercial tools such as Clearcase and Perforce.

TortoiseSVN is an easy-to-use SCM / source control software for Microsoft Windows and possibly the best standalone Apache™ Subversion® client there is. It is implemented as a Windows shell extension, which makes it integrate seamlessly into the Windows explorer. Since it's not an integration for a specific IDE you can use it with whatever development tools you like.

Subclipse is an Eclipse Team Provider plug-in providing support for Subversion within the Eclipse IDE. The software is released under the Eclipse Public License (EPL) 1.0 open source license.
As part of the development of the merge tracking feature in Subversion 1.5, CollabNet, the corporate sponsors of the Subversion project, developed a powerful graphical merge client feature on top of Subclipse. This has been available since the release of Subversion 1.5 as part of the CollabNet Desktop - Eclipse Edition, an open-source and EPL licensed desktop for accessing CollabNet TeamForge from Eclipse.
CollabNet has now made this merge client available to Subclipse users as part of the installation of Subclipse 1.6.x from the Subclipse update site. Users who want the full functionality of the CollabNet Desktop can still install the desktop, but those just looking for an excellent Subversion merge client now have an easier way to install this client into Eclipse.

Welcome to the Trac Open Source Project. Try out our demos! for Trac 0.11 (old), Trac 0.12 (stable), or Trac 0.13 (dev) Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects. Trac uses a minimalistic approach to web-based software project management. Our mission is to help developers write great software while staying out of the way. Trac should impose as little as possible on a team's established development process and policies. It provides an interface to Subversion (or other version control systems), an integrated Wiki and convenient reporting facilities. Trac allows wiki markup in issue descriptions and commit messages, creating links and seamless references between bugs, tasks, changesets, files and wiki pages. A timeline shows all current and past project events in order, making the acquisition of an overview of the project and tracking progress very easy. The roadmap shows the road ahead, listing the upcoming milestones.
