Prettier · Opinionated Code Formatter

https://prettier.io/

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

By far the biggest reason for adopting Prettier is to stop all the on-going debates over styles. It is generally accepted that having a common style guide is valuable for a project and team but getting there is a very painful and unrewarding process. People get very emotional around particular ways of writing code and nobody likes spending time writing and receiving nits. So why choose the “Prettier style guide” over any other random style guide? Because Prettier is the only “style guide” that is fully automatic. Even if Prettier does not format all code 100% the way you’d like, it’s worth the “sacrifice” given the unique benefits of Prettier, don’t you think?

python - How do I fit a sine curve to my data with pylab and numpy? - Stack Overflow

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16716302/how-do-i-fit-a-sine-curve-to-my-data-with-pylab-and-numpy

Saved by uncleflo on May 15th, 2021.

I am trying to show that economies follow a relatively sinusoidal growth pattern. I am building a python simulation to show that even when we let some degree of randomness take hold, we can still produce something relatively sinusoidal. I am happy with the data I'm producing, but now I'd like to find some way to get a sine graph that pretty closely matches the data. I know you can do polynomial fit, but can you do sine fit? You can use the least-square optimization function in scipy to fit any arbitrary function to another. In case of fitting a sin function, the 3 parameters to fit are the offset ('a'), amplitude ('b') and the phase ('c').

A Step-by-Step Guide to JavaScript Localization – The Phrase Blog – Software Localization Experts

https://phrase.com/blog/posts/step-step-guide-javascript-localization/

Saved by uncleflo on May 11th, 2021.

It's time to talk about front-end. This guide will walk you through the localization of JavaScript apps using jQuery.I18n by Wikimedia, Polyglot by Airbnb, and Globalize by jQuery. Internationalization (dubbed as i18n) and localization (l10n) are very important (though often hard) steps for any application that is going to be used worldwide. In one of our previous articles, we saw how to implement I18n at the backend powered by Ruby on Rails, but today it’s time to talk about frontend. This guide will walk you through JavaScript Localization from A to Z, using the following solutions: All of these solutions are quite different and have their own specifics, so we’ll see them all in action. The source code is available at GitHub.

Intl - JavaScript | MDN

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Intl

Saved by uncleflo on May 11th, 2021.

The Intl object is the namespace for the ECMAScript Internationalization API, which provides language sensitive string comparison, number formatting, and date and time formatting. The Intl object provides access to several constructors as well as functionality common to the internationalization constructors and other language sensitive functions. The internationalization constructors as well as several language sensitive methods of other constructors (listed under See also) use a common pattern for identifying locales and determining the one they will actually use: they all accept locales and options arguments, and negotiate the requested locale(s) against the locales they support using an algorithm specified in the options.localeMatcher property. The locales argument is used to determine the locale used in a given operation. The JavaScript implementation examines locales, and then computes a locale it understands that comes closest to satisfying the expressed preference.

Create a New React App – React

https://reactjs.org/docs/create-a-new-react-app.html

Saved by uncleflo on May 11th, 2021.

This page describes a few popular React toolchains which help with tasks. The toolchains recommended on this page don’t require configuration to get started. If you don’t experience the problems described above or don’t feel comfortable using JavaScript tools yet, consider adding React as a plain <script> tag on an HTML page, optionally with JSX. This is also the easiest way to integrate React into an existing website. You can always add a larger toolchain if you find it helpful! Create React App is a comfortable environment for learning React, and is the best way to start building a new single-page application in React.

How to Set Up a React App with Parcel

https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/how-to-up-a-react-app-with-parcel/

Saved by uncleflo on May 11th, 2021.

For a long time Webpack was one of the biggest barriers-to-entry for someone wanting to learn React. There's a lot of boilerplate configuration that can be confusing, especially if you're new to React. Even in a talk trying to show how easy React is to set up, it can be very difficult to try and learn each and every step in the setup process. Not too long after React was first out of beta, the team at Facebook made create-react-app. It was an attempt to make spinning up a (very fully-loaded version of a) React app as simple as typing a single command.

PSR-2: Coding Style Guide - PHP-FIG

https://www.php-fig.org/psr/psr-2/

Saved by uncleflo on June 18th, 2019.

The intent of this guide is to reduce cognitive friction when scanning code from different authors. It does so by enumerating a shared set of rules and expectations about how to format PHP code. The style rules herein are derived from commonalities among the various member projects. When various authors collaborate across multiple projects, it helps to have one set of guidelines to be used among all those projects. Thus, the benefit of this guide is not in the rules themselves, but in the sharing of those rules.

Best codec for game, video and screen recording - Bandicam

What is the best video codec for game recording, video recording, and screen recording? If you use a high-compression codec, you can get a small video file, but the encoding speed might be slower. If you use a high-quality codec, you can get the best quality video, but the video file size might be larger. If you use a high-speed codec, you can reduce CPU usage, but the video file size might be larger. So, you have to choose the best video codec by yourself to meet your recording needs.

Linux Daemon Writing HOWTO

http://www.netzmafia.de/skripten/unix/linux-daemon-howto.html

Saved by uncleflo on January 4th, 2019.

A daemon (or service) is a background process that is designed to run autonomously, with little or not user intervention. The Apache web server http daemon (httpd) is one such example of a daemon. It waits in the background listening on specific ports, and serves up pages or processes scripts, based on the type of request. Creating a daemon in Linux uses a specific set of rules in a given order. Knowing how they work will help you understand how daemons operate in userland Linux, but can operate with calls to the kernel also. In fact, a few daemons interface with kernel modules that work with hardware devices, such as external controller boards, printers, and PDAs. They are one of the fundamental building blocks in Linux that give it incredible flexibility and power. Throughout this HOWTO, a very simple daemon will be built in C. As we go along, more code will be added, showing the proper order of execution required to get a daemon up and running.

Education is old. The current public school system in the US dates back to the 19th century and wasn't designed to scale the way it has. Lots of companies are working to "disrupt" education by changing the way things work in the classroom and by bringing the classroom online.

Subclipse is an Eclipse Team Provider plug-in providing support for Subversion within the Eclipse IDE. The software is released under the Eclipse Public License (EPL) 1.0 open source license.
As part of the development of the merge tracking feature in Subversion 1.5, CollabNet, the corporate sponsors of the Subversion project, developed a powerful graphical merge client feature on top of Subclipse. This has been available since the release of Subversion 1.5 as part of the CollabNet Desktop - Eclipse Edition, an open-source and EPL licensed desktop for accessing CollabNet TeamForge from Eclipse.

CollabNet has now made this merge client available to Subclipse users as part of the installation of Subclipse 1.6.x from the Subclipse update site. Users who want the full functionality of the CollabNet Desktop can still install the desktop, but those just looking for an excellent Subversion merge client now have an easier way to install this client into Eclipse.
