Why are Poseidon regs not DIR?

https://www.yorkshire-divers.com/threads/why-are-poseidon-regs-not-dir.34863/

Saved by uncleflo on September 4th, 2022.

I understand the standardisation issues of DIR (I think) but DIR doesn't prescribe which reg you MUST have does it? Are Poseidons non DIR because GI3 had a spat with Poseidon (eg they wouldn't give him kit for an expidition) or is there a technical reason why GI3 considers them to be unsafe. And if the latter, why does the rest of the divng industry not also think they are unsafe? Or is it just plain old predudice against something diffrent?

Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations $40.00 Floating Dock Completed!

https://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=342286

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

Got lucky enough to snag a truckload of treated lumber on Craigslist for FREE. Had a friend with a hookup for the barrels for FREE. Already had nails and screws. Had to buy a few bags of quikrete and a 4x4 for the ramp posts, and some hardware for connecting the ramp to the posts and the ramp to the dock. All in all I have put in about $40 (and a week's worth of evening work at a leisurely pace). Not bad for a 12x14 dock with a 3.5x10 ramp for our half-acre pond!

How to Install Posts in the Water for a Dock or Pier: 14 Steps

https://www.wikihow.com/Install-Posts-in-the-Water-for-a-Dock-or-Pier

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

If you want to build a pier or a dock, you need good, sturdy pilings or posts to support it. Unless you have the heavy equipment to drive the pilings into the ground, you’ll either need to use a jet of water to dig a deep hole or set the pilings in concrete footers. Jetting is better for sandy soil, while concrete is more stable for muddy beds. Although this project may require some special tools and a couple of people to lend a helping hand, you’ll be able to enjoy fun on the waterfront for years to come! If you need to install posts in the water for a dock or a pier, measure and cut pilings made of pressure-treated wood. The pilings should be the length you need to support your structure, plus an extra 4-6 feet that you can bury in the ground. Have some friends help you stand the first piling in the water, then aim the tip of a high-powered hose or a water jetter at the base of the piling and turn on the pump. The force of the water should blast away the sand and mud beneath the wood, creating a hole so you can sink the piling. Keep reading to learn how to pour concrete posts!

Your code works, but is it safe? When writing code that will run across hundreds if not thousands of websites, you should be extra cautious of how you handle data coming into WordPress and how it's then presented to the end user. This commonly comes up when building a settings page for your theme, creating and manipulating shortcodes, or saving and rendering extra data associated with a post.

A successful Git branching model

Saved by uncleflo on June 29th, 2018.

In this post I present the development model that I’ve introduced for some of my projects (both at work and private) about a year ago, and which has turned out to be very successful. I’ve been meaning to write about it for a while now, but I’ve never really found the time to do so thoroughly, until now. I won’t talk about any of the projects’ details, merely about the branching strategy and release management.

MariaDB High Availability: Replication Manager

https://mariadb.com/resources/blog/mariadb-high-availability-replication-manager

Saved by uncleflo on February 25th, 2018.

This is a follow-up blog post that expands on the subject of highly available cluster, discussed in MariaDB MaxScale High Availability: Active-Standby Cluster. Replication Manager is a tool that manages MariaDB 10 clusters. It supports both interactive and automated failover of the master server. It verifies the integrity of the slave servers before promoting one of them as the replacement master and it also protects the slaves by automatically setting them into read-only mode. You can find more information on the replication-manager from the replication-manager GitHub repository. Using Replication Manager allows us to automate the replication failover. This reduces the amount of manual work required to adapt to changes in the cluster topology and makes for a more highly available database cluster. In this blog post, we'll cover the topic of backend database HA and we’ll use Replication Manager to create a complete HA solution. We build on the setup described in the earlier blog post and integrate Replication Manager into it. We're using Centos 7 as our OS and we'll use the 0.7.0-rc2 version of the replication-manager.

OAuth 2 Simplified

Saved by uncleflo on July 10th, 2017.

This post describes OAuth 2.0 in a simplified format to help developers and service providers implement the protocol. The OAuth 2 spec can be a bit confusing to read, so I've written this post to help describe the terminology in a simplified format. The core spec leaves many decisions up to the implementer, often based on security tradeoffs of the implementation. Instead of describing all possible decisions that need to be made to successfully implement OAuth 2, this post makes decisions that are appropriate for most implementations.

Accessing Incoming PUT Data from PHP

https://lornajane.net/posts/2008/accessing-incoming-put-data-from-php

Saved by uncleflo on December 2nd, 2016.

Recently I started writing a REST service. I began in the usual way, writing a php script, calling it with a GET request, accessing the variables using the PHP superglobal variable $_GET. I wrote code to handle a POST request and used the variables I found in $_POST. Then I tried to write a PUT request. PHP doesn't have a built-in way to do this, and at first I was a little confused as to how I could reach this information. It turns out that this can be read from the incoming stream to PHP, php://input.

I would rather save those $$$ and use it more effectively in marketing and advertising my products. I found another alternative to buy upc codes for cheap - just google the term 'upc code' or 'ean code' and you should see a list of so many different sites trying to sell upc codes from $4.99 to $120 - some with and most without any annual or set-up/registration fees.
