Our appetite to create new products and buy new products is infinite. The planet's resources aren't. But it's okay because we can have both: new products and a better environment. Nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. It's exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again. That means you can create new products and buy new products without having to use new resources. The future is circular. ECONYL® regenerated nylon is a product that can help you close the loop. Made from waste, it's infinitely recyclable and can unleash infinite possibilities for makers, creators and consumers. It's all part of the ECONYL® brand vision to make the world a better place by pioneering closed loop regeneration processes and delivering sustainable products.

I realise when I first released this post, it was January, a time of year that not everyone is throwing themselves into water without a wetsuit. A lot of you have been asking about sustainable swimwear options again over the past month with this never-ending heatwave we are having, so I thought I’d update and repost this guide. With environmental issues becoming much more prominent in the mainstream media, a quick google into the textiles and fashion industries will provide you with endless reasons to choose slow fashion. If you didn't follow Fashion Revolution and the #whomademyclothes movement go and check it out, alongside the documentary The True Cost. The price is often more because these companies pay workers a fair living wage, and source sustainably grown and produced materials. I've been trying to buy everything I wear consciously and not fall into the consumerism trap too often (although I'm occasionally slip up and find myself on the high street, damn those glittery topshop dinosaur socks). I try to follow the guide lines:

Papaia Praia was born from a mother and daughter’s dream. A pharmacist and a dentist, both with one will: create a swimwear for the real women. For the Portuguese woman with all the shapes, for the mother running after her children at the beach, for the young woman who wants a delicate and feminine item, for the woman who doesn’t want to show much and the one who likes to show too much. We wanted designs that embodies the reality of every woman not made for cover-models. Because our world, though dreamful, it’s the real world. We created our brand in 2017, almost as a joke, with every item handmade by us in a guestroom turned atelier. A couple of friends’ orders became hundreds of requests from friends of friends and customer all over the country, thus, in March 2018 Papaia Praia was launched, with national production and full dedication to this project. All our items are designed and hand-made in Portugal, with high quality fabrics. We are environmentally conscious, our lycras come from fishermen and plastics found in the ocean, and we work in a controlled and safe environment. We are a Portuguese brand. Designed for Portuguese women. And made in Portugal. All our products are produced with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™, providing durability 5 to 10 times higher than regular fabric.

Beach season is finally upon us—whether you're actually heading off into the sunshine or simply dreaming of booking somewhere. And although swimwear shopping fills many of us with complete dread the trends this year are hoping to put the fun back into bikinis. "Spring/summer 2018 is the year of haute swimwear which means detail is key," Lily Russo, co-founder of Beach Flamingo, tells me. "I have always championed fun swimwear and finally its going mainstream. Whether its leather braided straps, ruffles, belts or beading, this season is one of the most exciting yet." Keep scrolling to see—and shop—the key swimwear trends you'll see at every poolside this summer.
