SK-EBH60 is a portable turntable that provides an ideal solution for creating time lapse videos or panoramic stills with GoPro/action cameras, smart phone and cameras up to 2KG. The Freedom360 is a mount, or a frame to hold 6 GoPro Hero3 cameras in a tight, cubic geometry to film material for a fully spherical 360 x 180 video, controlled via the GoPro Wifi remote. The 6 individual videos are downloaded from the MicroSD cards, and stitched with special software into a equirectangular or dome master file. After editing and compression, the movie can be played back with special panorama players or apps, allowing the user to look in all directions, or even apply “impossible views” like a “little planet” view. Dome masters can be played back with any dome projection system. Freedom360 focuses on the hardware aspects, and we will be bundling 3rd party video stitching suites as soon as they are released.

Armchair scuba divers across the world and marine conservationists will soon be able to immerse themselves in the most spectacular survey of the Great Barrier Reef ever undertaken, thanks to a new research project unveiled by conservationists and backed by Google on Thursday. Tens of thousands of 360-degree, high-definition panoramas of underwater forests, grasslands and crags will be taken by robot cameras, mapped and made available on the internet as a result of the collaboration, which will seek help from a global audience to assess the health and composition of the 2,300km-long reef.

I’ve always wanted to try and take panoramic photographs using my dad’s Nikon Coolpix 5200. That day finally arrived when I finally have the free time to do so last week when I’ve to accompany my dad traveling to the countryside of my hometown. Using a tripod, I took 4 sets of photographs with the help of Nikon built-in panorama helper function. I was excited and about to use a Windows computer to stitch those photograph using software supplied with the camera when suddenly I thought of searching for a similar application on my trusty Ubuntu box. To my delight I found Hugin! An open source panorama maker software which I use without hesitation to create a my first ever panoramic photos.
