SCAFO - HumanPoweredHydrofoil

http://www.scafou.com/scafo/

Saved by uncleflo on February 13th, 2022.

We use the rules and regulations of the UK Air Navigation Order (CAP393) to present a simple graphical tool to aid safe flight planning for hobbyists and professional drone operators alike. Danger Areas are areas of military airspace often used for activities such as fighter pilot training, live ammunition training or weapons and systems testing (including GPS jamming exercises). The official definition is “An airspace of defined dimensions within which activities dangerous to the flight of aircraft may exist at specified time”. HIRTA’s are High Intensity Radio Transmission Areas and flying through these areas could interfere with the electronics on board your drone. Prohibited Areas are areas of airspace which for one reason or another have been prohibited from having aircraft enter them. The official definition is “An airspace of defined dimensions above the land areas or territorial waters of a State within which the flight of aircraft is prohibited” You will have to investigate the NATS AIP for more information about why the area is prohibited.

The bomber and flight jackets were first produced with an intention of providing some lightweight work wear that would be suitable in every way for the military personnel. They have a timeline record which shows the changes in style and modifications that have occurred in their design. Flight jackets have seen design modifications from the time of invention when they were mainly produced for use by the military men, to contemporary times where they now qualify for use as cool casual outfits for almost anybody. At AVI LEATHER we have done our best to create a compilation of the some of the most important flight jackets that have been, together with their basic descriptions and some illustrations.

Bird Flight

http://people.eku.edu/ritchisong/554notes2.html

Saved by uncleflo on April 17th, 2021.

Exactly how birds acquired the ability to fly has baffled scientists for years. Archaeopteryx provided a starting point for speculation. Built like a dinosaur, but with wings, scientists guessed at how a hypothetical ancestor might have taken flight. Some scientists support the arboreal hypothesis (e.g., Feduccia 1996) and suggest that the ancestors of Archaeopteryx lived in trees and glided into flapping flight (Figure to the right). But others argue that the claws of Archaeopteryx weren't suited to climbing. So, others support the cursorial hypothesis (e.g., Burgers and Chiappe 1999) and suggest that these ancestors used their long, powerful legs to run fast with their arms outstretched, and were at some point lifted up by air currents and carried into flapping flight.

The AgustaWestland Project Zero is a hybrid tiltrotor/Lift fan aircraft. It has been developed by AgustaWestland as a technology demonstrator, and is used to investigate all-electric propulsion and other advanced technologies. It is the world's first electric tiltrotor aircraft. In December 2010, AgustaWestland's management approved the formation of a team under James Wang with the intention of producing a technology demonstrator incorporating as many new innovations as possible on a single airframe. Speaking in 2013, Wang noted that electric technologies were rapidly advancing, and that the function of Project Zero was to achieve readiness with electric aircraft technologies: "Rather than waiting for the battery to become even better, then working on electric aircraft technology, the team has positioned itself to be ready for the next generation of batteries".

100% brand new Intelligent Flight Battery Drone 5870mAh 15.2V High Capacity FOR DJI Phantom 4/PRO. New higher amperage means longer flight time. Install a fresh Intelligent Flight Battery in your quadcopter and be ready to fly for up to 30 minutes. The "Intelligent" aspect of the battery enables communication that not only shows current capacity inside the app itself, it also calculates remaining flight times according to distance traveled and other factors. While flying, the battery will send an alert to notify you when the minimal capacity is available for a safe flight plan back to the takeoff point. Additionally, an internal battery management system prevents overcharging and over-draining, and when placed in long-term storage, the battery will self-discharge to a safe level in order to maintain cell health. If you live in a cold place or plan to fly on a winter break, low-temperature protection will activate. This controls available propulsion power based on the temperature of the battery, so that only a fully-warmed-up battery can offer full power. Additional Info: Four LEDs that display remaining capacity; Intelligent balanced charging circuitry built-in; Flights of 27-30 minutes on a single charge; Color:White; Up To 30 Minutes Of Flight Time; New 5870Mah - Higher Amperage; 15.2V; Calculates Remaining Flight Time; Overcharge Over-Drain Protection; Auto-Discharge For Long-Term Storage

Mayday, known as Air Crash Investigation(s) outside of the United States and Canada and also known as Air Emergency or Air Disasters (Smithsonian Channel) in the United States, is a Canadian documentary television series produced by Cineflix that recounts air crashes, near-crashes, fires, hijackings, bombings, and other mainly flight-related disasters and crises. It reveals the events that led to each crisis or disaster, their causes as determined by the official investigating body or bodies, and the measures they recommended to prevent a similar incident from happening again. The programs use re-enactments, interviews, eyewitness testimony, computer-generated imagery, cockpit voice recordings, and official reports to reconstruct the sequences of events. As of 10 September 2018, 170 episodes of Mayday have aired. This includes five Science of Disaster specials, each examining multiple crashes with similar causes. For broadcasters that do not use the series name Mayday, three Season 3 episodes were labeled as Crash Scene Investigation spin-offs, examining marine or rail disasters.

It’s been a long time since Australia was a player in space exploration. One man wants to change that – with the help of a plane that travels five times the speed of sound. On 28 October 1971, the bullet-shaped Black Arrow rocket blasted into the clear sky over the desert plain at Woomera in southern Australia. This launch of the British Prospero satellite into orbit was the culmination of more than 10 years of rocket development.

Basic of Space Flight: Rocket Propellants

http://www.braeunig.us/space/propel.htm

Saved by uncleflo on September 2nd, 2014.

Propellant is the chemical mixture burned to produce thrust in rockets and consists of a fuel and an oxidizer. A fuel is a substance that burns when combined with oxygen producing gas for propulsion. An oxidizer is an agent that releases oxygen for combination with a fuel. The ratio of oxidizer to fuel is called the mixture ratio. Propellants are classified according to their state - liquid, solid, or hybrid. The gauge for rating the efficiency of rocket propellants is specific impulse, stated in seconds. Specific impulse indicates how many pounds (or kilograms) of thrust are obtained by the consumption of one pound (or kilogram) of propellant in one second. Specific impulse is characteristic of the type of propellant, however, its exact value will vary to some extent with the operating conditions and design of the rocket engine.

Air-augmented rocket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saved by uncleflo on September 2nd, 2014.

Air-augmented rockets (also known as rocket-ejector, ramrocket, ducted rocket, integral rocket/ramjets, or ejector ramjets) use the supersonic exhaust of some kind of rocket engine to further compress air collected by ram effect during flight to use as additional working mass, leading to greater effective thrust for any given amount of fuel than either the rocket or a ramjet alone. It represents a hybrid class of rocket/ramjet engines, similar to a ramjet, but able to give useful thrust from zero speed, and is also able in some cases to operate outside the atmosphere, with fuel efficiency not worse than both a comparable ramjet or rocket at every point.
