The underlying implementations are written in Rust: This repository is used by the Signal client apps (Android, iOS, and Desktop) as well as server-side. Use outside of Signal is unsupported. In particular, the products of this repository are the Java, Swift, and TypeScript libraries that wrap the underlying Rust implementations. All APIs and implementations are subject to change without notice, as are the JNI, C, and Node add-on "bridge" layers. However, backwards-incompatible changes to the Java, Swift, TypeScript, and non-bridge Rust APIs will be reflected in the version number on a best-effort basis, including increases to the minimum supported tools versions.

I'm trying to set up USB tethering between my galaxy s2 and my ubuntu laptop. I'm using the following how-to: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Android_tethering. At one point it says to run ip link in a terminal, and then: "You should be able to see a usb0 or enp?s??u? device listed like this (notice the enp0s20u3 device)." But neither of these devices show up in the output when I run ip link. The laptop recognizes my phone when I connect it via USB, so I'm wondering if there's some way to get the device to show up.

There is a very clever technique by Alexey Ten on providing an image fallback for SVG going around the internet recently. It does just what you want in the classic no-SVG-support browsers IE 8- and Android 2.3. If we dig a little deeper we find a some pretty interesting stuff including a bit of unexpected behavior that is a bit of a bummer.

Apparently this record only happens if you have ‘location services’ switched on in your phone; if you do and you’re finding you have no data, then it means that either you don’t exist or you’ve beaten the system. If it’s the latter, please teach me your ways; I know for a fact that I switched my phone’s location detection off, but apparently it somehow got switched back on.

There are over 600 Google web fonts to choose from which is a good and bad thing – the good being there are so many good ones to choose from, the bad being having to sift through them to find the perfect one. When you’re running large scale sites that get hundreds of thousands of visitors a month, paid services like Typekit just aren’t worth the money. You’re much better off saving thousands of dollars by using Google web fonts. Honestly, around 60% of Google web fonts are just downright rubbish (sorry to hurt anyone’s feelings!), so I wanted to create this post showing the best fonts I’ve come across. These are fonts I’ve used myself in projects and themes and recommend to any web designers. I may have missed some other brilliant fonts, so do mention any other great ones in the comments.
