Quinn Legal - Isle Of Man Advocates. “They undertook my house purchase which was professional, concise and on was undertaken quicker than actually expected.” “Being a big advocate for great customer service, I just wanted to give some feedback on Jack Igglesden who has undertaken some work for me as I know he is a “trainee” and I think it’s always good to get feedback. Jack kindly met with me, before Christmas – he was polite, articulate and friendly. He listened to what I wanted and took relevant notes. Once he has spoken with you regarding the licences for our garage/car park business, he kept me informed and then sent drafts out to me to review. He also took note of the timeline that I was hoping to work towards and kept me informed all the way. His emails were always factual, polite and thankfully jargon free! It was a pleasure dealing with Jack and I wish him well with Quinn Legal. I use QL for any business, usually through Neil Q, and have always been looked after. Best wishes and thank you. “

This post is chock full of great stuff on the legal side of video production and the greater professional creative services in general. Over the past 13 years we’ve been in a couple of sticky situation before and luckily we had a contract in place to protect us. Had we not had a contract, we would have been in serious jeopardy of going out of business, filing for bankruptcy or maybe been sued.

If a government proposes to abandon one of the fundamental principles of justice, there had better be a powerful reason. Equality before the law is not ditched lightly. Surely? Well, read this and judge for yourself. The UK government, like that of the US and 13 other EU members, wants to set up a separate judicial system, exclusively for the use of corporations. While the rest of us must take our chances in the courts, corporations across the EU and US will be allowed to sue governments before a tribunal of corporate lawyers. They will be able to challenge the laws they don’t like, and seek massive compensation if these are deemed to affect their “future anticipated profits”.

Introduced in the TTIP, ISDS allows corporations to sue governments, such as that of the UK or of the EU, for any government action (at any level , including local government level) that limits a corporation’s future profits. the corporations can sue for the loss, or ‘expropriation’ of its future profits. The case will be heard by an arbitration panel of trade lawyers, in a jurisdiction of the corporation’s choosing. The dispute panel will only take account of ‘free trade’ values, disregarding values of public health, human rights, environmental protection, or labour or other social rights .
