Landlocked Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in Europe, with the highest per capita GDP in the European Union.
Taking up 2,586 square kilometers, Luxembourg is roughly the size of Rhode Island. From the capital of Luxembourg City, Belgium, France and Germany can all be reached by car in half an hour. High housing costs, especially in Luxembourg City, mean more than 180,000 of its workforce commute from those neighboring countries every day. "Luxembourg is a very attractive place for jobs," explains Geoffrey Caruso, a professor at the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research specializing in land use and transportation. But its "booming economy" and high concentration of jobs have led to congestion issues, he says.

A vessel must comply with the regulations of its flag state wherever it is in the world. In addition when cruising the waters of another country (as explained on the page Law of the Sea and the Coastal State), that country can require you to comply with its national legislation (as applicable to foreign flagged vessels). The UK's relationship with the EU changed from 1 January 2021. As a result you now have an obligation to report to UK Border Force when moving into and out of the UK by recreational boat. You should expect greater scrutiny and requirements to report on arrival and departure, when moving between the UK and the EU and/or the Schengen area by recreational boat. For each of the countries listed, answers to questions that regularly come up are provided. The information applies to UK registered boats owned by private individuals who are resident in the UK, which are taken abroad by them on a short visit. If you choose to base your boat abroad, have both property and your boat in a country, become resident abroad, cruise a company-owned yacht or use your vessel commercially (including offering it for charter), the rules may differ considerably from those applicable to private vessels on short visits. Specialist advice should be sought from the authorities (or a lawyer) in the country concerned.

This notice is intended for use by owners of pleasure craft who sail their craft to or from the UK and specifies the customs arrival and departure requirements. Private use means recreational (non-commercial) use. This can also include the use of a company owned vessel for private recreational purposes. If you carry any goods for industrial or commercial purposes, your vessel becomes a commercial vessel and is no longer a pleasure craft.

The Isle of Man Treasury has published a draft of the proposed Income Tax (Substance Requirements) Order 2018. This draft Order will, once final, and if approved by Tynwald (in December 2018), have effect in respect of accounting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2019. This Order is in response to a comprehensive review that was carried out by the EU Code of Conduct Group on Business Taxation (COCG) in order to assess over 90 jurisdictions, including the Isle of Man (IOM) against standards of:

By underpinning our creative roots with a relentless focus on technical innovation, we've ensured that Stance socks are now found in over 40 countries on the feet of those who dare to be different.

On 29 September 2014, Cecelia Malmström took the stand in the European Parliament to answer questions – a formality en route to the role of European Trade Commissioner. Unbeknownst to her, Martin Selmayr, the chief of staff for incoming European Commissioner President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker, was alleged to have changed her written testimony, in a section in which she wrote about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Selmayr inserted the following line: "…this clearly means that no investor-State dispute settlement mechanism will be part of that agreement."

Introduced in the TTIP, ISDS allows corporations to sue governments, such as that of the UK or of the EU, for any government action (at any level , including local government level) that limits a corporation’s future profits. the corporations can sue for the loss, or ‘expropriation’ of its future profits. The case will be heard by an arbitration panel of trade lawyers, in a jurisdiction of the corporation’s choosing. The dispute panel will only take account of ‘free trade’ values, disregarding values of public health, human rights, environmental protection, or labour or other social rights .

A fundamental factor to increase the Agency impact is to spread its results, studies, reports, Position Papers, etc. An important multiplier to reach all key stakeholders and the general public is therefore media. Media relations are consequently important for ENISA, to live up to the Agency mission of 'Securing Europe's Information Society'. Media are independent reporting on the Agency’s work on çyber security’ i.e. Network and Information Security. Many communications and outreach activities fall into this active approach for increased impact, e.g. public affairs, video clips, digital communications and web development.
