Apply GIMP manipulations to groups of images. With BIMP you can apply a set of manipulations to an entire group of images! It provides an easy to use interface and a lot of batch functions: Follow the general instructions to install a plugin on GIMP. You will find "Batch Image Manipulation..." inside the "File" menu. BIMP can be easily translated using the "gettext" method. Those who are already familiar with this system can find some template files (with .po extension) into the ./bin/win32/bimp-locale folder. If you want to translate BIMP but do not know how, just send me an email. Let's make it speak Powhatan! This project costs me a lot of "No, not tonight" answers to the questions "Hey, Ale! Wanna go out with us for some beer?". So, if you are a real gentleman, why don't you pay me back those missed drinks? ;)

Speak to an AI using our low-latency open-source speech-to-text and text-to-speech. This is a cascaded system made by Kyutai: our speech-to-text transcribes what you say, an LLM (we use GPT OSS 120B) generates the text of the response, and we then use our text-to-speech model to say it out loud. All of the components are open-source: Kyutai STT, Kyutai TTS 1.6B, and Unmute itself. Although cascaded systems lose valuable information like emotion, irony, etc., they provide unmatched modularity: since the three parts are separate, you can Unmute any LLM you want without any finetuning or adaptation! In this demo, you can get a feel for this versatility by tuning the system prompt of the LLM to handcraft the personality of your digital interlocutor, and independently changing the voice of the TTS. Both the speech-to-text and text-to-speech models are optimized for low latency. The STT model is streaming and integrates semantic voice activity detection instead of relying on an external model. The TTS is streaming both in audio and in text, meaning it can start speaking before the entire LLM response is generated. You can use a 10-second voice sample to determine the TTS's voice and intonation. Check out the pre-print for details.

As the name suggests, WallpaperWebPage is an application that sets any web page as the wallpaper of your desktop. It can be seamlessly figured out, even by users with little or no experience in software programs. At startup WallpaperWebPage creates an icon in the system tray area from where you can open the context menu to type in the URL to be loaded. Changes are immediately applies to the desktop, as your old wallpaper is replaced with the new web page. However, all your desktop icons disappear. Unfortunately, WallpaperWebPage does not give you the possibility of accessing these shortcuts from the right-click menu. On the other hand, it is possible to navigate the links of the web page in question. Last but not least, the program is capable of automatically running at system startup. In order to disable the application's status, you simply need to exit it. WallpaperWebPage barely uses CPU and system memory, so it doesn't interfere with the runtime of other active processes. It has a good response time and works fine, without making the operating system hang, crash or pop up error notifications. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, first-time users can quickly learn how to work with WallpaperWebPage.

Tamron 18-400mm EF-S lens I've been disappointed by the performance of both Canon & Sigma small extreme telephoto zoom lenses, particularly sharpness at the long focal lenses. Then along comes this 18-400mm lens that is the exception to the rule. It autofocuses well even at 400m zoom (at F6.3) given reasonable contrast. Focus is quiet, the anti-vibration feature provides a useful damping of shake, and at F8 the images is less than about 1 pixel blurred even at this huge zoom. At wide angle there is a little exposure fall-off at the corners. Not exceptionally lightweight but perfectly well balanced with the EOS 7D - quite a heavy camera for an EF-S mount. This lens has transformed the usefulness of the 7D as a medium sized setup to for wildlife photography. Not not quite at the quality of an EOS 1D Mk IV + huge and heavy Sigma 50-500mm IS (NLA) but much easier carry and hold and a good choice for a long trek.

Technical Analysis for Traders. The trader extension is a free open source stock library based on TA-Lib. It's dedicated to trading software developers requiring to perform technical analysis of financial market data. Alongside many indicators like ADX, MACD, RSI, Stochastic, TRIX the candlestick pattern recognition and several vector arithmetic and algebraic functions are present. Calculations can be done in two modes - TA-Lib and Metastock. Changing it using trader_set_compat() will affect the way some trader functions work. Some trader functions provide different results depending of the "starting point" of the data being involved. This is often referred as a function having memories. An example of such function is the Exponential Moving Average. It is possible to control the unstable period (the amount of data to strip off) using trader_set_unstable_period() function. Extended documentation about indicators, formulas and implementations in other programming languages can be found under » tadoc.org.

Ever wondered which program has a particular file or directory open? Now you can find out. Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded. The Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. The top window always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in: if it is in handle mode you'll see the handles that the process selected in the top window has opened; if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you'll see the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded. Process Explorer also has a powerful search capability that will quickly show you which processes have particular handles opened or DLLs loaded. The unique capabilities of Process Explorer make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.

Electropolishing, also known as electrochemical polishing, anodic polishing, or electrolytic polishing (especially in the metallography field), is an electrochemical process that removes material from a metallic workpiece, reducing the surface roughness by levelling micro-peaks and valleys, improving the surface finish. It is used to polish, passivate, and deburr metal parts. It is often described as the reverse of electroplating. It may be used in lieu of abrasive fine polishing in microstructural preparation. Typically, the work-piece is immersed in a temperature-controlled bath of electrolyte and serves as the anode; it is connected to the positive terminal of a DC power supply, the negative terminal being attached to the cathode. A current passes from the anode, where metal on the surface is oxidised and dissolved in the electrolyte, to the cathode. At the cathode, a reduction reaction occurs, which normally produces hydrogen. Electrolytes used for electropolishing are most often concentrated acid solutions having a high viscosity, such as mixtures of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. Other electropolishing electrolytes reported in the literature include mixtures of perchloric acid with acetic anhydride (which has caused fatal explosions), and methanolic solutions of sulfuric acid.

If you’re looking for an antivirus that is light on memory during idle and scanning, here are the top antivirus that you might find useful for your slow computer. Remember, light doesn’t mean better detection rate, vice verse, heavy on memory usage doesn’t mean it is a good antivirus either. The best antivirus is the one you feel most comfortable in, the one that allows you to play Dota or Diablo without lagging it. Then again, in today’s ample computing world, lagging is mostly due to your broadband internet speed.

Gear Generator is a tool for creating involute spur gears and download them in DXF or SVG format. In addition it let you compose full gear layouts with connetcted gears to design multiple gears system with control of the input/output ratio and rotation speed. Gears can be animated with various speed to demonstrate working mechanism. Why this tool was created? Just for fun. I'm working on a hobby project, a scale construction machine, which needed some spur gears, and I quickly made a simple spur gear creator script in Javascript with SVG output. As it was done, I couldn't stop, and I added more and more features, and finally I got this tool. It was a pleasure to code the whole thing, I'm a bit sad it is already done.

For those who need a tighter bend radius we have designed the Useful-Tools hand operated mandrel tube bender. These machines will allow tubes to be bent with an impressive 2 times tube diameter bend radius with no rippling or cracking of the tube and the absolute minimum of distortion. We have 2 machines that all operate on the same principle, namely the pipe or tube to be bent is located between a formed mandrel and back plate with another formed internal mandrel (bullet) held at a carefully controlled position inside the tube. The tube is secured firmly to the main mandrel and when the mandrel is turned the tube is pulled over the internal mandrel as it wraps around the main mandrel. (This internal "Bullet" holds the tube open and helps reduce distortion to a minimum.)

Learning how to write unit tests for your code will make you write better code. With automated tests, you can find bugs more easily, and if you break something you'll notice straight away. Many experienced developers write unit tests for their code. It's a repeatable way of checking that the code works as intended, and also serves as documentation. Many popular PHP projects are unit tested, such as WordPress and Moodle, and if you use frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony, these provide tight integration with the PHPUnit testing framework.

Query Express is a simple Query Analyzer look-alike, but being small and free, it can be run where the SQL Server client tools are not installed or licensed. This makes it especially useful as a query tool for MSDE and SQL Express. It also connects, to Oracle and other OLE-DB compliant databases. Query Express requires no installation and is packaged as a single 100KB executable. This is more than 300 times smaller than SQL Server Management Studio! Query Express is ideal for those not yet ready for LINQPad.

In the previous chapter, we explored in depth what we mean by the tidy text format and showed how this format can be used to approach questions about word frequency. This allowed us to analyze which words are used most frequently in documents and to compare documents, but now let’s investigate a different topic. Let’s address the topic of opinion mining or sentiment analysis. When human readers approach a text, we use our understanding of the emotional intent of words to infer whether a section of text is positive or negative, or perhaps characterized by some other more nuanced emotion like surprise or disgust. We can use the tools of text mining to approach the emotional content of text programmatically, as shown in Figure 2.1.

A central question in text mining and natural language processing is how to quantify what a document is about. Can we do this by looking at the words that make up the document? One measure of how important a word may be is its term frequency (tf), how frequently a word occurs in a document. There are words in a document, however, that occur many times but may not be important; in English, these are probably words like “the”, “is”, “of”, and so forth. We might take the approach of adding words like these to a list of stop words and removing them before analysis, but it is possible that some of these words might be more important in some documents than others. A list of stop words is not a sophisticated approach to adjusting term frequency for commonly used words. Another approach is to look at a term’s inverse document frequency (idf), which decreases the weight for commonly used words and increases the weight for words that are not used very much in a collection of documents. This can be combined with term frequency to calculate a term’s tf-idf, the frequency of a term adjusted for how rarely it is used. It is intended to measure how important a word is to a document in a collection (or corpus) of documents. It is a rule-of-thumb or heuristic quantity; while it has proved useful in text mining, search engines, etc., its theoretical foundations are considered less than firm by information theory experts.

SpaceSniffer is a freeWare (donations are welcome) and portable tool application that lets you understand how folders and files are structured on your disks. By using a Treemap visualization layout, you have immediate perception of where big folders and files are placed on your devices. Treemap concept was invented by Prof. Ben Shneiderman, who kindly permitted the use of his concept into this tool. Start a scan process and see the overall situation. Bigger are the elements on the view, bigger are folders and files on your disk. You need more detail on a big folder? Just single click on it. The selected element will be detailed with its content. Need more and more detail? Keep selecting elements and they'll discover their secrets to you. Need a larger view of a small folder? Then double click on it, and it'll zoom to the full extent of the view. If you need to understand why no more free space is left on media, keep following bigger elements. Maybe you want to focus only on particular file types... ok. Just type the file type on the filter field (example: *.jpg) and press enter. The view will react and show you only JPEG files.
