A friendly but professional, family run business with an old fashioned approach to sales & customer service, situated on the waterfront of the delightful market town and boating centre of Woodbridge in Suffolk. Andy arrived in Woodbridge from the Midlands in the early 70’s to join his parents who had moved there some years before. Boating had always been the family hobby and he soon realised that whilst you could order your yacht from one of the local yards, there was nowhere to buy a dinghy to hang on the davits! He soon set about "plugging the gap" and acquired a premises on the Quayside and began buying and selling tenders, small fishing boats, sailing dinghies & day boats. His intention was to bring boating to "everyman" and his early adverts boasted that he could "get you sailing or motoring down the river for less than £500". Several thousand boat sales later it seems he was right! The business went from strength to strength and the range and size of boats he offered grew dramatically and now he has over 70 boats on display at any time, from dinghies to ocean going yachts – canoes to 40’ cruisers.

Geothermal energy is the second most abundant source of heat on earth, after solar energy. It is the natural heat energy stored in the earth. This energy is contained in about 260 billion cubic metres of rocks and metallic alloys, just below the outer surface of the earth, that are at or near their melting points (Lanterman & Lee, 2007). Calculations show that the Earth, originating from a completely molten state, would have cooled and become completely solid if the only energy input was that of the Sun, so it is believed that the ultimate source of geothermal energy is the decay of naturally radioactive isotopes (Dincer et al., 2007). The thermal energy from the earth continuously flows outwards. This heat transfer from the core to the surrounding mantle is principally via conduction. When the temperature and pressure of the system becomes high enough, some of the rocks that make up the mantle melt and form magma. As the liquid magma is less dense than surrounding rocks, it slowly rises, convecting thermal heat towards the earth’s crust (Lanterman & Lee, 2007).

The business was founded in 2006 working from our home workshop. The core business was the manufacture of one off custom and client specific designed house name and number plates, using the traditional greensand casting technique. Most of our signs are made from cast aluminium which is then powder coated in a durable plastic finish prior to being painted by our resident artist in weather proof enamel paints. We also cast in brass, bronze or copper for those clients who require it. Being close to The Liverpool John Lennon Airport means we are located centrally in the UK and can easily source materials and equipment for the foundry industry.
