www.dirdirect.com is an online branch of Underwater Explorers in the UK which is staffed by divers serving divers around the world and in the United Kingdom. UE's core team of instructors started operating in Weymouth (Dorset, UK) in 1998, contracted to take over management of the-then Weymouth Scuba Centre and starting to promote Hogarthian diving equipment and techniques. The centre/school then took over The Scuba Centre (formerly Parry's Dive Centre) in nearby Portland in the year 2000 and eventually focused directly on Hogarthian/DIR diving with the creation of Underwater Explorers Ltd. as a separate entity -- UK's first exclusively DIR/Hogarthian dive centre and training facility. Despite being involved in assisting Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) being recognized in the UK and hosting the first GUE trips to and courses in the country, also becoming the first UK GUE Regional Centre, UE continued to conduct PADI/IANTD/TDI courses until focusing directly on cutting edge equipment sales, advice and workshops. We are independent from any agency affiliation and serve all levels of divers world-wide, from beginner to technical and exploratory, providing quality equipment whatever their needs, agencies and diving styles. New products, special offers and sales without spam. Once or twice monthly Newsletter to your inbox.

Following, you can find a description of Amazon Aurora Global Database. Each Aurora global database spans multiple AWS Regions, enabling low latency global reads and disaster recovery from region-wide outages. An Aurora global database consists of one primary AWS Region where your data is mastered, and one read-only, secondary AWS Region. Aurora replicates data to the secondary AWS Region with typical latency of under a second. You issue write operations directly to the primary DB instance in the primary AWS Region. An Aurora global database uses dedicated infrastructure to replicate your data, leaving database resources available entirely to serve application workloads. Applications with a worldwide footprint can use reader instances in the secondary AWS Region for low latency reads. In the unlikely event your database becomes degraded or isolated in an AWS region, you can promote the secondary AWS Region to take full read-write workloads in under a minute.

They say a journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step. For us, rather than a step, our journey began with a leap. We sold everything we didn’t need, cars, computers, motorcycles, furniture — everything. What we couldn’t sell, we donated and we used the money to buy a sailboat. Our boat “Uma” is a 1972 Pearson 36. She is neither fancy and expensive, nor cheap and flimsy—to us, she is perfect. We wanted a name that carried with it the motivation and rational that led us to buy her in the first place. Her name was inspired by the Portuguese number 1 (uma), meaning first or primary. She is our first step

I have a self-referencing table with a primary key, id and a foreign key parent_id. Given a name, how can I query the top-level parent? Given a name, how can I query all of the id's associated with a record of name = 'foo'?

I am build a web application (project management system) and I have been wondering about this when it come to performance. I have an Issues table an inside it there are 12 foreign keys linking to various other tables. of those, 8 of them I would need to join to get the title field from the other tables in order for the record to make any sense in a web application but then means doing 8 joins which seems really excessive especially since I am only pulling in 1 field for each of those joins.

Of the technical factors that would contribute to lowering the cost of space access, reusability has high potential. The primary objective of the GTX program (ref. 1) is to determine whether or not air-breathing propulsion can enable reusable single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) operations. The approach is based on maturation of a reference vehicle design with focus on the integration and flight-weight construction of its air-breathing rocket-based combined-cycle (RBCC) propulsion system.

The Jamestown Foundation’s mission is to inform and educate policy makers and the broader community about events and trends in those societies which are strategically or tactically important to the United States and which frequently restrict access to such information. Utilizing indigenous and primary sources, Jamestown’s material is delivered without political bias, filter or agenda. It is often the only source of information which should be, but is not always, available through official or intelligence channels, especially in regard to Eurasia and terrorism. Launched in 1984 after Jamestown's late president and founder William Geimer's work with Arkady Shevchenko, the highest-ranking Soviet official ever to defect when he left his position as undersecretary general of the United Nations, the Jamestown Foundation rapidly became the leading source of information about the inner workings of closed totalitarian societies.
