Bye Aerospace’s eFlyer 800 is a clean-sheet design that will carry eight people, including one or two pilots. The 800 will have two motors, powered by a grid of electric cells across the airframe. This is the third model in a lineup of electric planes from the Denver-based aerospace firm, but the first with two motors. The eFlyer 2 is a two-seater for professional flight training that was developed when the company launched in 2014, and the eFlyer 4, a four-seater for air taxi and advanced training, came later. Both models have more than 360 orders each. “The eFlyer 800 is the first all-electric propulsion technology airplane that achieves twin-turboprop performance and safety with no CO2 and extremely low operating costs,” said CEO George E. Bye in a statement. The eight-seat aircraft will be competing against turboprops with much higher operating costs, but will have similar interior space and accommodations. Bye Aerospace The eFlyer 800 is Bye’s response to the growing demand for all-electric aircraft that can deliver local and regional flights, but with greater capacity and capabilities, at a substantially lower operating cost than traditional fossil fuel aircraft.

EcoRocket is designed around two main features: cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness and it is designed to launch commercial payloads starting with 2021. The EcoRocket Heavy will follow. The first two stages are reusable and are using water-based propulsion technology that generates water vapours through cold reaction. The expandable third stage uses conventional hot rocket propulsion and it's ignited at high altitude, above the thick atmosphere. Both the first and second stage use the high efficiency aerospike engine technology. The whole rocket uses 86% water-based propellant. ARCA already tested this technology at full-scale. EcoRocket is sea-launched, directly from the sea surface, the first sea trials taking place on the Black Sea, in July 2021. EcoRocket is competing in the European Commission's 10 million Euros competition that aim to stimulate the creation of new, small orbital launchers that are cost effective and friendly to the environment.

The seriesOne shaft seal was designed for smaller, single-engine vessels with stainless steel propeller shafts. This shaft seal fits shaft diameters from 7/8 through 1 1/4 in 1/8 increments. It can also be used on metric stainless shafting from 25mm through 30mm. The seriesOne shaft seal is covered by a one year warranty. Tides Marine suggests that all twin-engine applications use the Tides SureSeal. The seriesOne housing is produced in the same manner as the SureSeal shaft seals. However, in order to produce a shaft seal for our more cost-conscious customers, the front cap design of the seriesOne has been modified. For vessels powered by smaller diesel engines (1-3 cylinders) using softer engine mounts, the multi-convolution articulating hose is recommended. This extra flexibility compensates for increased lateral engine movement during operation.

The AgustaWestland Project Zero is a hybrid tiltrotor/Lift fan aircraft. It has been developed by AgustaWestland as a technology demonstrator, and is used to investigate all-electric propulsion and other advanced technologies. It is the world's first electric tiltrotor aircraft. In December 2010, AgustaWestland's management approved the formation of a team under James Wang with the intention of producing a technology demonstrator incorporating as many new innovations as possible on a single airframe. Many people have written in and commented that an electric motor is only good for day sailors who weren’t going very far each day, and that you need a reliable diesel engine for long distance cruising. But we feel like the opposite is true. Since we don’t have a dock to tie up to and charge our batteries each night, we rely on sailing to recharge our system. The longer we sail and the more sun we get, the more power we make. Because we don’t have a 9-5 to return to at the end of a fun weekend out on the boat, we have no schedules requiring that we make it back to the dock on time, no matter what the wind is doing. So, we feel that an electric motor, depending on your sailing style, can be adapted to any boat. But, you have to be willing to work around the one major draw back, range.

Have you just bought an old sailboat with a dead or dying engine? You might have a boat worth less than a third of what a new diesel would cost, and you don't want to buy a used engine and inherit someone else's cast-off problems. Or maybe you are tired of smelling fuel, buying fuel, spilling fuel, running out of fuel, or hearing a smoke belching valve clattering clankasaurus hard at work, or crossing your fingers and hoping it will start when you actually need it. There are a lot of reasons to repower with electric drive. Electric is not for everyone. It has a lot of cons to balance out the obvious pros. But one con that is widely diseminated by self proclaimed experts is that it is expensive, and that is not necessarily the case at all. It is quite possible to replace that cranktankerous old infernal combustion engine very cheaply indeed. I did it, for less than $2500. I didn't know it at the time, but I could have spent even less.

I have been wondering about this a lot in Mini Simmons surfboard design (surfboard design in general)—what is a hull and how does it influence the board and the ride? Two factors are at work when a planing surfboard is in motion: the propulsion power, or force, that creates forward motion (the wave energy); the resistance that opposes it (your fat ass standing on the board). When at rest, a surfers weight is borne entirely by the buoyant force (also depending on how much beer you drank the night before). At low speeds every hull acts as a displacement hull, meaning that the buoyant force is mainly responsible for supporting the surfer. As speed increases, hydrodynamic lift increases as well. Ok, you got to reach back to some physics for this one.

Low-density thermoplastic foams are frequently used as energy-absorbing foams.
