Entry and exit formalities | boating abroad | RYA

https://www.rya.org.uk/knowledge/abroad/entry-exit-formalities

Saved by uncleflo on January 30th, 2022.

The information provided by the RYA is written as a guide for a UK flagged Pleasure Vessel operated by somebody who is established (resident) in the UK. It may not be applicable to boats registered with other flag states, those who are established elsewhere and vessels that are operated commercially. If you are boating abroad and you find something is different or come across something new, please let us know by emailing cruising@rya.org.uk. A UK flagged vessel must wear her ensign as required by the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, which includes when entering or leaving a foreign port and on demand. It is recommended that the ensign is worn at all times in daylight, especially when near to or in sight of land or another vessel. The Coastal State may also have legislation which mandates an ensign being worn at other times.

Mastercard to raise fees by at least 400% for EU firms selling to UK customers | Credit cards | The Guardian

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/jan/25/mastercard-to-raise-fees-to-eu-firms-by-500-percent-for-online-sales-to-uk-shoppers

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

Change from October could lead to higher prices for those paying with UK-issued cards Mastercard is to increase the fees EU firms face to take payments from online shoppers from the UK by at least 400%, in a move that could mean higher prices for consumers. When a credit or debit card is used, a percentage of the purchase price is paid by the retailer to the bank that issued it as an interchange fee, which is set by a payments firm. Mastercard’s interchange fee is currently 0.3% on credit card payments and 0.2% on debit card payments but it has told EU firms that these will increase to 1.5% and 1.15% respectively from 15 October. The Financial Times, which first reported the change, said the rise would benefit banks and card providers, rather than Mastercard.

Visa prepaid

http://www.visa.co.uk/en/products/visa_prepaid.aspx

Saved by uncleflo on March 14th, 2012.

As its name suggests, a Visa prepaid card is a type of Visa card that is pre-loaded with funds. Instead of being linked to a bank account (like a Visa debit card), or providing a line of credit (like a Visa credit card), the amount you can spend is limited by the value that’s been pre-loaded onto the card. Visa prepaid cards look just like normal credit or debit cards, carrying all the same features (such as the card number, expiry date and security code).
