The information provided by the RYA is written as a guide for a UK flagged Pleasure Vessel operated by somebody who is established (resident) in the UK. It may not be applicable to boats registered with other flag states, those who are established elsewhere and vessels that are operated commercially. If you are boating abroad and you find something is different or come across something new, please let us know by emailing cruising@rya.org.uk. A UK flagged vessel must wear her ensign as required by the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, which includes when entering or leaving a foreign port and on demand. It is recommended that the ensign is worn at all times in daylight, especially when near to or in sight of land or another vessel. The Coastal State may also have legislation which mandates an ensign being worn at other times.

No problem connecting to NFS with firewalls disabled,but even with TCPView it's not obvious which ports require opening.
We've opened port 2049 for both UDP and TCP and all seems well, but there's a selection of ports mentioned across the web for NFS. So with XenServer just 2049? Sharing filesystems by NFS: Regardless of which choice is made for ID mapping you will need to adjust any firewall the system is using so that NFS clients can communicate with the server. You will need to ensure that the following ports are open before sharing any filesystem: UDP: 111, 1039, 1047, 1048 and 2049. TCP: 111, 1039, 1047, 1048 and 2049. See _this article_ Tobias

If you’re troubleshooting a service that you know is running normally the next step is to ensure it’s listening on the correct network port. The netstat command shows the services listening to ports on a Linux server and the details of any connections currently made to them. The connection details to consider during basic network daemon troubleshooting are the addresses that the daemon is listening on (including the port number), the daemon’s process identifier (PID), and the program name.

Some our codecs have same problem. They recieve outbound calls from numbers "100" and "101". And if look clother this calls cominf from the same white IP address as address of codecs. So it means codecs calls by itself. And this call repeats too often last time(approximetly 30 times per day)

Since 12.04 NetworkManager needs dnsmasq-base as a dependency, If dnsmasq is installed ie apt-get install dnsmasq it will try to bind to port 53 which is already in use because of NetworkManager. To resolve first comment the dnsmasq line from networkmanager.

In Fedora, the httpd package provides the Apache HTTP Server. Run rpm -q httpd to see if the httpd package is installed. You will need to open port 3306 TCP in the Windows firewall or any third party firewall for all software so it can communicate with MySQL. The server should have port 3306 TCP open both inbound and outbound (if using Windows 7 or higher)

Mozambican Prime Minister Alberto Vaquina on Thursday announced that the government has already awarded the concession for the construction of a deep water port at Techobanine, in Mozambique’s southernmost district of Matutuine. The Prime Minister was speaking during the annual conference of the port of Maputo. He did not reveal the name of the company involved but stated that the work could be concluded by 2015. The project will cost seven billion US dollars which the governments of Mozambique and Botswana are to raise.

Samba is somewhat tricky to setup on CentOS due to both the firewall (iptables) and SELinux protection. This is actually a good thing, security is very important, but to get Samba to communicate outside the server we have to do some work and get some understanding as well.
