This site was created primarily for the prospective or newly established boat builder but has proven to be useful to boat owners. It is intended to be a reference for the beginning boat builder who has decided to build boats and sell them. It does not tell you how to build boats, although it has many links to such sites on Ike's List. It does tell you what things you need to know if you are building or planning to build boats and sell them. This is not just for wood boats, or fiberglass boats, but for all boats. The rules, regulations and standards here apply to all recreational boats. They apply primarily to small craft under 60 feet but that is not a hard and fast rule. For instance, all recreational boats are required to have a Hull Identification Number regardless of size. Another instance is gasoline fuel systems. The rules apply to all recreational boats with permanently installed gasoline engines. I will state at the beginning of each subject what it applies to because Federal Regulations define what vessels each regulation applies to and ABYC standards do so as well.

The programme is approved by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Maritime Academy and provides a certificate of verified achievement issued by EAL. EAL is part of SEMTA - Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies and is the UK’s leading qualification provider. This certification provides independent, quality assured, audited controls for the WeldCraft-Pro® training programme, making it the only externally awarded underwater welding training programme to issue internationally recognised/verified qualifications anywhere in the world. More information about EAL and SEMTA can be found here. The programme is also recognised by CPD board of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), who are one of the oldest learned societies in the World, established in 1889. These institutions help provide quality assurance and verification procedures. The training course is based on an 80 hour work programme, split over two phases (dry and wet). In the past, if you were chartering in Europe, an International Certificate of Competency (ICC) may have been sufficient proof of your ability to safely operate a boat. However, it has recently been brought to our attention that a number of European charter companies and insurance companies will not accept an ICC as sufficient proof to command a yacht for a one week bareboat charter (power or sail). These companies are insisting that the charterer should hold an IYT International Flotilla Skipper or IYT International Bareboat Skipper, power or sail (or equivalent qualification that is on their “approved” list). The charter companies and insurance companies do not have a comfort level handing over an expensive yacht to someone who they feel is not sufficiently qualified to command it for a weeks duration.

Just a curiosity. At this point I've done: single staging environment for small teams, and that obviously doesn't work well beyond a couple; one off EC2 instances that just use docker to make a mini-replicated environment; cloudformation to spin up an entire, and yet smaller, version of our production; ngrok and just having our QA test directly. The area I'm interested to see how people are handling it is with respect to data. Are you replicating the full DB? Just using in memory and some seed data? Additionally, for those of you that have this (or have had one in the past), how did you guys set it up to be "pleasurable" to work with? By that I mean it not being some long winding rube goldberg machine that almost defeats the purpose of having a CI.
