The Blinn–Phong reflection model (also called the modified Phong reflection model) is a modification to the Phong reflection model developed by Jim Blinn. Blinn–Phong is the default shading model used in OpenGL and Direct3D's fixed-function pipeline (before Direct3D 10 and OpenGL 3.1), and is carried out on each vertex as it passes down the graphics pipeline; pixel values between vertices are interpolated by Gouraud shading by default, rather than the more computationally-expensive Phong shading.

Do a search on YouTube and you'll turn up literally dozens of video clips of LED cubes, small 3x3x3 cubes, bi-colour, RGB and mono cubes, amazing 16 x 16 x 16 RGB cubes. However, very few show you how to make one and provide the firmware. The cube described on this page uses a 5 x 5 x 5 matrix of single colour LEDs. This is a good size to experiment with as the number of LEDs required at 125 keeps the cost down, doesn't take too long to assemble and just fits onto a eurocard sized PCB. The power requirement is under 1 amp and the use of just one colour keeps both the hardware construction and control software fairly simple.

The Rubik’s 4x4 cube is also sometimes know as The Rubik's Revenge. Unlike the original 3x3 cube, the 4x4x has no fixed centre pieces and so it is even harder to solve!! But don’t worry, here are some videos and guides to help you master this difficult puzzle.

To solve the Rubik's Revenge takes only 3 steps! The cube may look a lot more complicated but it is actually very easy. I first came up with this method to solve my 5x5x5 cube and later adapted it to work for the 4x4x4 cube. I thought I had figured this method out on my own but it turns out I've seen the same solution on some other cube pages. So anyway here is my version of this method. Basically the way I solve the Revenge is get all the pieces into a state that can be solved like a normal Rubik's Cube. Here is how my method works.
