This document and the APIs herein are subject to change at any time. We will version the API, but may deprecate early versions aggressively. Please wait at least one second between HTTP queries, or you are likely to get automatically throttled. If you are releasing a library to access the API, you must do this. Please watch for 500 or 999 errors and back-off appropriately. It means that you have been throttled. Please set your User-Agent to something identifiable. The default identifiers like Java/1.4.3 or lwp-perl etc tend to get banned from time to time. If you are releasing software or a service for other people to use, your software or service must not add any links without a user’s explicit direction. Likewise, you must not modify any urls except under the user’s explicit direction. API calls of Objects returns as an Xml object.

In this post, we are going to explore open source fonts and CSS pre-processing. I am going to give you an easy way to add web fonts to any website in just a few lines of code. Google Fonts makes it quick and easy for everyone to use web fonts. Google Fonts is a collection of open source fonts that are hosted on Google’s servers and with their API, it is easy for anyone to integrate their fonts into any web project. Best of all, it’s free. (To learn more and explore the hundreds of fonts available, check out the Google Fonts website.)

Part of the developer's life, is to strive for simplicity in every aspect of their work. When searching for solutions to common problems, you have the choice to lock yourself into all kinds of third party services and API's, or take the opportunity and develop the functionality yourself. In this week's tutorial, we are making a simple link sharing app. This app will give you the ability to instantly share any web page, with a single click of a bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar, and display it in a widget on your site. Note: This tutorial is quite old and doesn't work in PHP7 and above. We are keeping it online only as a reference.

Bookmarkets can be defined as mini applications masquerading as tiny snippets of JavaScript awesomeness that reside in your browser and provide additional functionalities to a web page. Today, we're going to look into creating bookmarklets from scratch and on the way, some best practices to follow. They're not for the nerdy, in fact, they're pretty user-centric. We're always looking at ways to enhance our browsing experience, be it widespread or little known. Bookmarklets, I used to think, belonged to the latter - the bastion of super nerds. Much to my chagrin, I discovered that I was completely wrong about the topic. They're not for the nerdy, in fact, they're pretty user-centric, implement a lot of pretty neat functionalities and, just as people predicted, it's become a core part of the way I interact with the browser -- and the internet. Today, I'd like to walk you through developing bookmarklets implementing some nifty bookmarks. Yes, bookmarks. We'll be building more than one, albeit quite tiny ones. Intrigued? Let's get started!

Free Online Tools For Developers. I created this website to help developers by providing them with free online tools. These tools include several formatters, validators, code minifiers, string escapers, encoders and decoders, message digesters, web resources and more. I will add new tools on a regular basis, so be sure to add this site to your bookmarks. If you encounter a bug, I would very much appreciate that you send me an email (freeformatter@gmail.com) that explains the nature of your bug. Please include details like which browser version you're using and the steps to reproduce the bug. Other comments are welcome. Please "+1" and/or "Facebook Like" this site if you thought it was useful.

A Firefox profile stores all of your important data, such as your bookmarks, history, cookies, and passwords. This article explains how to copy the files to a new profile, lists important files in the profile and describes what information is stored in these files. If you are having a problem with Firefox then sometimes, rather than trying to find and fix the exact cause of the problem, it is easier just to make a new Firefox profile and copy your most important data over to it. The Reset Firefox feature will do this for you automatically.

Following my last post on browser-based desktop applications, I prototyped a little application to play with these ideas. I'm a big fan of the social bookmarks manager del.icio.us which enable you to bookmark urls and categorize them. However, all your bookmarks are available to everyone else (it manages social bookmarks after all). But, from time to time, I also need to bookmark urls that I don't want to share (e.g. private ones or professional ones which could give too much hints to competitors).

An HTTP-based interface. We will version the API, but may deprecate early versions aggressively. All /v1 api's require https requests and HTTP-Auth. Keep in mind: Please let us know if you are going to release software that uses this publicly, so that we can at least have a heads-up and hopefully test things out beforehand. Please wait AT LEAST ONE SECOND between queries, or you are likely to get automatically throttled. If you are releasing a library to access the API, you MUST do this. Please watch for 500 or 999 errors and back-off appropriately. It means that you have been throttled. Please set your User-Agent to something identifiable.
