Firefox creates various session history files as you browse, and then at shutdown creates sessionstore.jsonlz4. In Firefox 56+, the files are compressed using Mozilla's flavor of LZ4 compression (.jsonlz4 or .baklz4 file extension). The JSON data contains rich detail about your session, but this page is targeted toward extracting just the page URLs. Drag and drop one session history file onto the empty text box (HELP), or use the Browse... button on the right. This file is not sent to the network, it is only read within this page in Firefox. This tool can read URLs out of the following types of session history files:

Many customers want a disaster recovery environment, and they want to use this environment daily and know that it's in sync with and can support a production workload. This leads them to an active-active architecture. In other cases, users like Netflix and Lyft are distributed over large geographies. In these cases, multi-region active-active deployments are not optional. Designing these architectures is more complicated than it appears, as data being generated at one end needs to be synced with data at the other end. There are also consistency issues to consider. One needs to make trade-off decisions on cost, performance, and consistency. Further complicating matters is the variety of data stores used in the architecture results in a variety replication methods. In this session, we explore how to design an active-active multi-region architecture using AWS services, including Amazon Route 53, Amazon RDS multi-region replication, AWS DMS, and Amazon DynamoDB Streams. We discuss the challenges, trade-offs, and solutions.

So I have this friend. I've told him time and time again how dangerous XSS vulnerabilities are, and how XSS is now the most common of all publicly reported security vulnerabilities -- dwarfing old standards like buffer overruns and SQL injection. But will he listen? No. He's hard headed. He had to go and write his own HTML sanitizer. Because, well, how difficult can it be? How dangerous could this silly little toy scripting language running inside a browser be?

Last week my house had some electrical issues, and our landlord came round to take a look at things. During this time, my computer got turned off without warning when a fuse was removed. It recovered fine, but next time I went to shut down in a hurry, Firefox was hanging around, and I wanted it dead. I chose to kill it and shut down—a mistake I would soon regret.

A very good website that explains in depth and detail, the technical explanations of SIP, VoIP, RTP and SDP. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a signaling protocol used to create, manage and terminate sessions in an IP based network. A session could be a simple two-way telephone call or it could be a collaborative multi-media conference session. This makes possible to implement services like voice-enriched e-commerce, web page click-to-dial or Instant Messaging with buddy lists in an IP based environment. Don't worry if you don't know about these services. You don't need to know them before you learn about SIP.

A problem that has plagued web developers for years is how to add real-time information to their applications, such as a progress bar for file uploads. Users are impatient; they don’t want to sit and wait while the browser is doing something and wonder whether it has frozen or if they have a slow connection. Providing a progress indicator gives users useful information and lets them know exactly what’s going on.

Processes and files are labeled with an SELinux context that contains additional information, such as an SELinux user, role, type, and, optionally, a level. When running SELinux, all of this information is used to make access control decisions. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SELinux provides a combination of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Type Enforcement (TE), and, optionally, Multi-Level Security (MLS). The following is an example showing SELinux context. SELinux contexts are used on processes, Linux users, and files, on Linux operating systems that run SELinux. Use the ls -Z command to view the SELinux context of files and directories.

A Firefox profile stores all of your important data, such as your bookmarks, history, cookies, and passwords. This article explains how to copy the files to a new profile, lists important files in the profile and describes what information is stored in these files. If you are having a problem with Firefox then sometimes, rather than trying to find and fix the exact cause of the problem, it is easier just to make a new Firefox profile and copy your most important data over to it. The Reset Firefox feature will do this for you automatically.

There isn't much that Sylvio Mancusi can't do in the ocean. From surfing to kitesurfing to SUPing to towing in this Brazilian sea gypsy never met a set of wind and swell conditions he didn't like. He travels the world with his young family searching for big waves and favorable filming conditions in which to ply his trades. This week Sylvio and the fam rock up in Nazaré, Portugal for a big swell. Praia do Norte is known for giant waves, but it's not known for perfect waves. Sylvio and Garrett McNamara spend their session trying to find a few peeks without getting cleaned up in the process. It's hair-raising stuff. That would be the end of the video for most people, but Sylvio is not most people. When the wind picks up he takes the kite out in 40-knot offshores and horizontal rain. It aint pretty but it sure looks fun. Maybe not for Sylvio's long-suffering wife, Bia, though. She's stuck in the car complaining about how crazy he is. Behind every great man...

Last week I have bumped into a small problem that caused me a few hours head ache… I had a desktop application written in Adobe AIR and a server offering web services in PHP. The users of the desktop application could log in and their session variables had to be stored on the server. The only data the desktop application stored was the session ID returned by the web service after logging in. After logging in, the desktop application made it possible to make some changes on the DB behind the server by using the web services. To identify the user, it passed the session ID to the server…

Most (if not all) modern websites use sessions to control the experience for individual users, and to maintain state between requests (since HTTP is a stateless protocol after all). Sessions are fantastic and incredibly useful, but if managed incorrectly they can expose your website to security vulnerabilities and potentially allow a malicious attacker to gain unauthorised access to user accounts.
