This notice is intended for use by owners of pleasure craft who sail their craft to or from the UK and specifies the customs arrival and departure requirements. Private use means recreational (non-commercial) use. This can also include the use of a company owned vessel for private recreational purposes. If you carry any goods for industrial or commercial purposes, your vessel becomes a commercial vessel and is no longer a pleasure craft.

The J Class Association (JCA) was founded to protect the interests of the Class, present and future. To keep the J-Class fleet and races alive and to encourage new build yachts to enter the field, new Class rules were established for the construction of Replica Rebuilds from original plans. One of the key drivers of the J-Class revival was the decision of the J-Class Association to allow aluminium and other materials to be used as a hull construction material. This reinforced the renewed interest among owners to build J-class yachts. After a performance analysis by Gerard Dijkstra of the existing J's as well as the designs that were allowed to be built under the new JCA rules, a specific J Class handicap system was developed in order to enable all yachts built to the J Class designs to race against each other regardless of size, sail area or hull construction.

I’ve had a lot of success in my 20 year software engineering career with developing cross platform ‘C’ and ‘C++’ code. At Backblaze, we just released the Mac beta version of our online backup service, so I thought it an apt time to discuss my 10 rules for writing cross-platform code. We develop an online backup product where a small desktop component (running on either Windows or Macintosh) encrypts and then transmits users’ files across the internet to our datacenters (running Linux.) We use the same ‘C’ and ‘C++’ libraries on Windows, Mac, and Linux interchangeably. I estimate it slows down software development by about 5 percent overall to support all three platforms. However, I run into other developers or software managers who mistakenly think cross platform code is difficult, or might double or triple the development schedules. This misconception is based on their bad experiences with badly run porting efforts. So this article is to quickly outline the 10 simple rules I live by to achieve efficient cross platform code development.

An instance uses access control list (ACL) rules, also called access control rules, to control what data users can access and how they can access it. ACL rules require users to pass a set of requirements in order to gain access to particular data. The system searches for ACL rules that match both the object and operation the user wants to access. If there are no matching ACL rules for the object and operation combination, then the object does not require any additional security checks and the instance grants the user access to them. By default, the system provides ACL rules to restrict access to all database and configuration operations.

CentOS has an extremely powerful firewall built in, commonly referred to as iptables, but more accurately is iptables/netfilter. Iptables is the userspace module, the bit that you, the user, interact with at the command line to enter firewall rules into predefined tables. Netfilter is a kernel module, built into the kernel, that actually does the filtering. There are many GUI front ends for iptables that allow users to add or define rules based on a point and click user interface, but these often lack the flexibility of using the command line interface and limit the users understanding of what's really happening. We're going to learn the command line interface of iptables.

IIS URL Rewrite 2.0 enables Web administrators to create powerful rules to implement URLs that are easier for users to remember and easier for search engines to find. By using rule templates, rewrite maps, .NET providers, and other functionality integrated into IIS Manager, Web administrators can easily set up rules to define URL rewriting behavior based on HTTP headers, HTTP response or request headers, IIS server variables, and even complex programmatic rules. In addition, Web administrators can perform redirects, send custom responses, or stop HTTP requests based on the logic expressed in the rewrite rules.

An HTTP-based interface. We will version the API, but may deprecate early versions aggressively. All /v1 api's require https requests and HTTP-Auth. Keep in mind: Please let us know if you are going to release software that uses this publicly, so that we can at least have a heads-up and hopefully test things out beforehand. Please wait AT LEAST ONE SECOND between queries, or you are likely to get automatically throttled. If you are releasing a library to access the API, you MUST do this. Please watch for 500 or 999 errors and back-off appropriately. It means that you have been throttled. Please set your User-Agent to something identifiable. The default identifiers like "Java/1.4.3" or "lwp-perl" etc tend to get banned from time to time. If you are releasing software or a service for other people to use, your software or service MUST NOT add any links without a user's explicit direction. Likewise, you MUST NOT modify any urls except under the user's explicit direction.
