Using GIT to clone from a windows machine to a linux webserver (in house)

OK, I am looking for a way to use GIT to keep a web site up to date between my local machine (git repository) and my web site (git clone of repository). I have initialized the repository (on windows 7 machine) and added all the files to the repo on my local machine. I now need to get the repo to the webswerver (a linux-based machine). I can access the webserver via putty and ssh. How do I go about cloning the repo into the appropriate directory to serve the web site?

I have a working copy of the project, without any source control meta data. Now, I'd like to do the equivalent of git-clone into this folder, and keep my local changes. git-clone doesn't allow me to clone into an existing folder. What is the best practice here? This can be done by cloning to a new directory, then moving the .git directory into your existing directory.

This situation might not affect everyone, but it struck me today and left me scratching my head. Consider a situation where you need to clone one drive to another with dd or when a hard drive is failing badly and you use dd_rescue to salvage whatever data you can.

I'm installing gitolite from CentOS packages for my client. The package creates a gitolite user, which will be visible explicitly during a "git clone" operations. The client wants to use "git" and not "gitolite", in case we change to something more fancy later. I'm not very familiar with CentOS, so I don't want to try to build the package myself from source.

This is a small follow up to my previous post on Setting up a KVM-LVM based virtual machine host, so if you haven't set up a KVM virtual machine host yet, you may want to read that post first. In the previous post I've described how to set up a very simple virtualised environment based on KVM. I also mentioned that I usually do part of the administration with the bundled GUI, virt-manager, and that I use command line tools for those administration tasks that aren't available in the GUI; in this post I'll mention some of the ones I happen to need most often.

In this doc we explain how to put clonezilla live in your harddrive which already has an OS installed. Here we use grub boot loader as an example. You have to put the clonezilla live files in a FAT, ext2/3, reiserfs or any grub supported partition. If you do not have such a partition, you can use gparted to resize your partition and create another partition to put clonezilla live. Here we assume you already have a FAT partition /dev/sda4 to put clonezilla live.

I'm too spoiled by Windows utilities that take a digital snapshot of your entire drive, which you can then restore from in the event of a drive crash. (e.g. like Time Machine for Mac OS X). Is there a similar way of doing this in Linux?

As with plenty of others i can assume, Skyrim for the PC is giving me grief. At first it was being a ♥♥♥♥♥ and shutting down my PC should i use the Map and now it's crashing at will. Don't bother accusing my Hardware or Heat as I have tried many many so called "Fixes" to get it working without sudden crashes all to no avail.
Also i have tried "Verifying Game Cache" with steam. Twice in fact, and now I can't load my game at all. I'm stuck on a never-ending load screen... So now I feel like literally re-installing this ♥♥♥♥♥ via deleting it and re-DLing it. One thing i want though is my save file, As i really, really don't wanna start all over again..
