Plastimo's high resistance flexible water tanks are a reliable, practical and low cost solution to the storage of fresh water on board. As the water tanks are flexible, light and form-fitting, they can be fitted in awkward, difficult to access areas that it would not normally be possible to fit a standard rigid water tank. The tanks consist of a welded non-porous tasteless PVC water chamber that is located inside a tough nylon envelope for complete watertightness and resistance to tearing and abrasion. This double envelope design makes maintenance easy, as the inner chamber can be easily removed from the outer protective envelope for routine cleaning and examination. The water tanks are supplied complete, ready to install, with a 38mm diameter inlet fitting and 12mm diameter outlet.

If you encounter problems or need to carry out routine maintenance on your boat's engine then the following steps can be taken. For most small boats that have portable outboard engines which can be easily removed, cleaning and repair work can be carried out at home or in a repair shop. Larger craft, such as cabin cruisers, powerboats and larger yachts, which are powered by diesel or gasoline inboard or inboard-outboard engines, may have to have ther engines removed for major overhauls. Once the problem has been established you may need to contact a supplier to obtain the specialist part. A friendly but professional, family run business with an old fashioned approach to sales & customer service, situated on the waterfront of the delightful market town and boating centre of Woodbridge in Suffolk. Andy arrived in Woodbridge from the Midlands in the early 70’s to join his parents who had moved there some years before. Boating had always been the family hobby and he soon realised that whilst you could order your yacht from one of the local yards, there was nowhere to buy a dinghy to hang on the davits! He soon set about "plugging the gap" and acquired a premises on the Quayside and began buying and selling tenders, small fishing boats, sailing dinghies & day boats. His intention was to bring boating to "everyman" and his early adverts boasted that he could "get you sailing or motoring down the river for less than £500". Several thousand boat sales later it seems he was right! The business went from strength to strength and the range and size of boats he offered grew dramatically and now he has over 70 boats on display at any time, from dinghies to ocean going yachts – canoes to 40’ cruisers.

The area described stretches from Southend Pier to Hole Haven Creek, and is home to a couple of thousand shoal draft yachts and other shallow craft. These are either moored off the foreshore or tucked up in the muddy little creeks. One thing they all have in common is that they take the ground when the tide leaves (except perhaps for a few fishing boats moored at Holehaven and in Ray Gut). In general the area is not suitable for deeper draft fin keelers, except for a couple of temporary anchorages, a long way from any facilities. The town of Southend is fronted by extensive drying mud flats that reach almost to the end of the pier. A deepwater gutway runs inwards towards Leigh on Sea and branches off a short way to Smallgains Creek, which houses a boatyard with mud berth moorings at the eastern extremity of Canvey Island. Another arm continues past Two Tree Island where many small craft are moored in semi shelter and then winds and twists it's way up Benfleet Creek, where there are two yacht clubs with extensive drying moorings and a boatyard, (that nestle in total shelter no matter what the wind is doing).
