https://www.iomfsa.im/register-search/

Saved by uncleflo on January 18th, 2022.

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) was established by the Transfer of Functions (Isle of Man Financial Services Authority) Order 2015. As well as establishing the Authority, the order transfers the functions of the Financial Supervision Commission and the Insurance and Pensions Authority to the Authority. Click here for more information on the merger process. This area of the website contains searchable registers of entities regulated by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority. It also contains details of former regulated entities that have been regulated by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority under the Financial Services Act 2008. The registers are searchable by the current name or the trading name of the regulated entity. Type in the name, or part of the name of a regulated entity and click 'search'. You can also check for previous names by using the Companies Registry Public View site. For entities regulated under the Financial Services Act 2008, the online register is the statutory public record. For entities etc regulated under the Insurance Act 2008, the Collective Investment Schemes Act 2008 and the Retirement Benefit Schemes Act 2000, the statutory public registers are available from the Authority, but the online record summarises this content. For Schemes that are no longer active the register is available from the Authority, and information can be obtained from the Fund Services Team by email at info@iomfsa.im.

NatWest to convert all debit cards to Mastercard

https://www.finextra.com/newsarticle/37414/natwest-to-convert-all-debit-cards-to-mastercard

Saved by uncleflo on January 16th, 2022.

NatWest is to convert all of its debit cards to Mastercard, giving the card scheme a massive leg-up in its efforts to break the UK dominance of rival Visa. While this conversion may "give the card scheme a massive leg-up in its efforts to break the UK dominance of rival Visa", it does little to improve competion or result in lower card acceptance costs for merchants. While the interchange fee regulation caps fees at 0.2% for debit cards, the Mastercard card scheme fees are significantly higher than those of Visa so will result in much higher costs for merchants - and ultimately consumers. This is not good news. Also, as the interchange fees are capped, there is little incentive for card issuers to switch brands as their income remains the same - unless a 'behind the scene' deal has been done to sweeten the deal - which would (in effect) be contrary to the anti-circumvention clause of the IFR.

RFC 3986 - Uniform Resource Identifier (URI): Generic Syntax (RFC3986)

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3986.html

Saved by uncleflo on June 23rd, 2019.

A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is a compact sequence of characters that identifies an abstract or physical resource. This specification defines the generic URI syntax and a process for resolving URI references that might be in relative form, along with guidelines and security considerations for the use of URIs on the Internet. The URI syntax defines a grammar that is a superset of all valid URIs, allowing an implementation to parse the common components of a URI reference without knowing the scheme-specific requirements of every possible identifier. This specification does not define a generative grammar for URIs; that task is performed by the individual specifications of each URI scheme.

You or your agent can use the online form service or postal form to apply for form A1/E101 to confirm you remain in the UK National Insurance scheme. Use this form if you’re normally self-employed in the UK and going to work temporarily in another country within the European Economic Area (EEA). This form will enable HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to determine which member state’s social security legislation will apply. If you’re a director of your own limited company you should complete forms CA3821 and CA3822.

what is the meaning and use case of each URL encoding Reserved Characters

https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/100765/what-is-the-meaning-and-use-case-of-each-url-encoding-reserved-characters

Saved by uncleflo on December 27th, 2017.

Quote from Percent-encoding. When a character from the reserved set (a "reserved character") has special meaning (a "reserved purpose") in a certain context, and a URI scheme says that it is necessary to use that character for some other purpose, then the character must be percent-encoded. Percent-encoding a reserved character involves converting the character to its corresponding byte value in ASCII and then representing that value as a pair of hexadecimal digits: What does each of this characters mean in context of an URI? with a search engine I didn't find a list and their meanings/use case.

Why MySQL’s (SQL) DATETIME can and should be avoided

http://billauer.co.il/blog/2009/03/mysql-datetime-epoch-unix-time/

Saved by uncleflo on February 22nd, 2015.

MySQL, among other databases, has a column type called DATETIME. Its name seems to mislead people into thinking that it’s suitable for storing time of events. Or suitable for anything. This is a general SQL thing, by the way, but I’ll demonstrate it on MySQL. I often find this column type in other people’s database schemas, and I wonder if the designer gave it a thought before using it. It’s true, that in the beginning it looks simple

Student and youth enterprise has come to the fore in recent years. Young entrepreneurs are spilling out of schools and universities in greater numbers than ever as an antidote to rising levels of unemployment, a lack of well-paid graduate jobs, and the prominence of entrepreneurship as a career option.
