Paphos International Sailing Club - Home

https://pisc.com.cy/

Saved by uncleflo on February 13th, 2022.

Paphos International Sailing Club (known as PISC) was formed in 1999 by a group of sailing enthusiasts, the purpose being to promote all aspects of sailing and boating in Cyprus. During the early years of the Club's existence, activities for the most part involved the sharing of common interests and knowledge in a social setting. Today the Club consists of three active sections: Power Boating, Dinghy Sailing and Offshore Cruising. The aims of the Club remain the same, which is to promote sailing and boating in a friendly self-help Club with great atmosphere. We offer various boating events throughout the year, including Dinghy Regattas, Power Boat Treasure Hunts and Cruising Rallies in the Meditteranean, as well as numerous social get-togethers such as Beach Barbeques, Quiz Nights, Ten-pin Bowling and Dinner-Dances. The Club pays close attention to safety and follows RYA and Cypriot protocols in all activities on the water. We have two Rigid Inflatable safety boats manned by fully trained club members, which are on duty at every event. The Club conducts numerous courses for members in sailing proficiency and safety throughout the year.

Furniture - Multiform Tubes Ltd

https://multiformtubesengineeringltd.co.uk/furniture/

Saved by uncleflo on February 13th, 2022.

Metal tubes are ideal for creating all manner of different pieces of furniture. From tubes, you can make everything from bed frames to tables and desk chairs. They even appear in your wardrobes and cupboards as railings so that you can hang items up. The materials can be decorative or purely functional. It depends on the design and the needs of the user. Possibly the biggest benefit of using tubes to create furniture though is how you can adapt the pieces in a variety of ways. For example, you can bend a section of tube to make curved and angled pieces. This allows for creativity with designs and means the products can effectively satisfy all kinds of needs. Tubes made from several different materials are employed in furniture manufacturing. Various types of steel are suitable for use including stainless and mild. They are popular because of their low cost and high strength characteristics. In addition, there are a number of options in terms of finishes. You can choose plating and galvanisation for instance. This will improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetic finish.

A New Approach to 3D Printing a Yacht Hull Mold

http://blog.thermwood.com/en-us/a-new-approach-to-3d-printing-a-yacht-hull-mold

Saved by uncleflo on February 13th, 2022.

Thermwood recently printed several sections from a 51 foot long yacht hull mold to demonstrate how only a single mold may be needed for the manufacture of larger vessels, such as yachts. The printed sections of this test mold are made of carbon fiber reinforced ABS from Techmer PM. ABS was chosen because of its physical properties and relatively low cost compared to other reinforced thermoplastics. Thermwood has already 3D printed a full size pleasure boat master pattern which has been used to produce multiple production boat hull molds. While this demonstrated the value of additive manufacturing small boat tooling, much larger vessels, yachts for example, require a different approach. In these instances, since only a single mold is needed, it is desirable to print the mold itself rather than print a plug or pattern from which multiple production molds can be made. To demonstrate to the industry how this might work, Thermwood printed a 10 foot section from a 51 foot long yacht hull mold. This rather unique mold design was specifically developed for additive manufacturing. It is printed in sections, each about five foot tall. These printed sections are then bound together both chemically and mechanically using high strength polymer cables into two mold halves. The two mold halves then bolt together to form a complete female mold for the yacht hull.

Wikipedia - Regent's Canal

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regent%27s_Canal

Saved by uncleflo on December 20th, 2018.

Regent's Canal is a canal across an area just north of central London, England. It provides a link from the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal, 500 m north-west of Paddington Basin in the west, to the Limehouse Basin and the River Thames in east London. The canal is 13.8 kilometres (8.6 miles) long. First proposed by Thomas Homer in 1802 as a link from the Paddington arm of the then Grand Junction Canal (opened in 1801) with the River Thames at Limehouse, the Regent's Canal was built during the early 19th century after an Act of Parliament was passed in 1812. Noted architect and town planner John Nash was a director of the company; in 1811 he had produced a masterplan for the Prince Regent to redevelop a large area of central north London – as a result, the Regent’s Canal was included in the scheme, running for part of its distance along the northern edge of Regent's Park.

SAILBOATDATA.COM is a database that contains information on nearly 8000 production and semi-production sailboats dating back to 1900. Boats are generally listed using their class designation rather than the manufacturer or builder name. For example a BENETEAU FIRST 456 will be listed as FIRST 456 (BENETEAU) One could also go to the BUILDERS section and search BENETEAU. All the boats built by BENETEAU should be listed within that title. Search results default to alphabetical, 25 per page. Use SORT BY: to switch your results to sort by year built or LOA.

The treatment of torsion in most Mechanics of Materials textbooks is uneven. While circular cross sections are analyzed in detail (sometimes too thoroughly), the coverage of non-circular sections is typically relegated to “advanced material” covering 4-5 pages. (In this respect Beer-Johnston- DeWolf is somewhat better than Vable, who totally omits Open Thin Wall sections)
