Daniel Williams is a traditionally trained sculptor who applies his knowledge and experience of creating physical sculpture to the digital space. His studio practice is one of persistent self-education and correction in pursuit of learning the human form in its entirety. It is his belief that, in the language of art, human bodies garner the most empathy and are the most appealing way to convey narrative to an audience. Daniel will teach you the workflows for sculpting realistic human form in Zbrush. Through the process of sculpting a dynamically posed figure, Daniel will help students identify these problem areas and help fill in those knowledge gaps. You will learn how to use anatomical knowledge to create a working logic for building realistic human form.

Lost-wax bronze casting (investment casting), from sculpting from life all the way to the final patina... This was a short course with Clara Hali at National Art School, in Sydney. I highly recommend this short course if you want to get into bronze. You get to make two bronze sculptures, this was my first.

A few years ago I decided to order a Buddha garden statue mold online because I wanted to start making these statues and selling them. They are fairly easy to make they just require a little hard work and there are a few things that you can do which help to improve the quality of the finished product. Firstly though I will tell you the things which you will need to make the statue. You will need a mold which you can buy online or you can make your own. I will be putting a hub up soon which shows you how to make your own. You will also need some cement, some sand , some pea gravel, water, a container to mix your concrete in, a spade or something that you can mix your concrete with, a rubber mallet, some silicone spray and some carpet. You can also find a product which is called concentrated plasticiser. I have found that this product helps to reduce air bubbles and also makes the statues stronger and less likely to crack.

Cutting-edge technology with robots for machining marble and stones from T & D Robotics Srl: low price and easy to use T & D Robotics Srl is a company that operates in the sector of robotics for the stone industry. In particular, it offers its customers robots for machining marble and stone. Its key product is the Lapisystem, which is divided into four types of robots that differ in terms of operative dimensions, spindle power, and weight. They are all six-axis articulated robots complete with software for managing the system and its accessories. Robots for marbleThe products from T & D Robotics may also be used for processing cement, Corian ®, glass, carbon fibre, bricks, wood, and resin. The idea of making robots for processing stone and marble is in line with the theory that machines with a high technological content permit reduction of work times. T&D robots are characterized by ease of use, installation speed, and low price; they therefore represent a valid investment for professionals in the sector. They are used for machining tubs, sinks, shower bases, fountains, chimneys, tombstones, columns, statues, sculptures, bas-reliefs, and much more. In addition to complex processes, the robots can also carry out contouring, chamfering, and drilling operations. The robots from T & D Robotics Srl are ideal for all processing of marble, granite, and stone. Robots for marble and stone: Lapisystem. Lapisystem is a highly technological product consisting of a robot that is able to guarantee every type of machining for marble and stone. It is a system designed for use in all kinds of stone workshops. It is fast, extremely reliable, and easy to use. The ample operational range, contained footprint (considering that Lapisystem reaches 3.5 mt in height and a 7 mt radius) and the possibility of using it for both marble and granite, permit this product to easily handle both complex sculptural work and rapid operations of contouring, chamfering, or drilling.

In the last few years Robot integrator T&D in collaboration with a leading supplier of natural stone, Marmi e Graniti d'Italia (MGI), has applied its technology and innovation for applications in the stone industry. One of the latest frontiers in the field is definitely the interaction between ABB robots and natural stone. Using the creation of a replica of artist Amedeo Modigliani's infamous "HEAD" sculpture in white granite, T&D explored the application of a robotic milling system to evaluate whether industrial robots are capable of the demands and challenges that processing stone requires. The results of the experiment surpassed all expectations offering a quality of cut comparable to CNC machinery. The possibility of perfecting the approach, integrating milling and polishing, is currently being explored in collaboration with ABB integrator T&D Robotics.

Demonstration of how to create a sculpture from an existing sculpture, by very talented artists in Italy, on marble stone. The large stone is first cut by a hand saw machine to get rid of the larger pieces. The stone is then chivelled by to nearby precision. A poke pointer and precision hole sawing than marks exact depth holes and marks where the statue surface should be. The statue is then passed on to another expert, who takes the time to very precisely sculpt and smooth the final layers to the final statue.

Michelangelo, Pietà, marble, 1498-1500 (Saint Peter's Basilica, Rome) Speakers: Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker. The Pietà was a popular subject among northern european artists. It means Pity or Compassion, and represents Mary sorrowfully contemplating the dead body of her son which she holds on her lap. This sculpture was commissioned by a French Cardinal living in Rome. Look closely and see how Michelangelo made marble seem like flesh, and look at those complicated folds of drapery. It is important here to remember how sculpture is made. It was a messy, rather loud process (which is one of the reasons that Leonardo claimed that painting was superior to sculpture!). Just like painters often mixed their own paint, Michelangelo forged many of his own tools, and often participated in the quarrying of his marble -- a dangerous job. When we look at the extraordinary representation of the human body here we remember that Michelangelo, like Leonardo before him, had dissected cadavers to understand how the body worked. - Created by Beth Harris and Steven Zucker.
