Bookmarks enable users to collect and organize lists of web pages, so they can easily get back to their favorites. Using the Bookmarks API, your extensions can manipulate bookmarks in much the same way users can. To make use of the Bookmarks API, you need to ask for the "bookmarks" permission in your extension’s manifest.json file: The Bookmarks API lets your extension do the things users can do with bookmarks and includes functions for: To gain an understanding of how to work with the Bookmarks API let’s take a look at the bookmark-it example. This example adds a toolbar icon (browserAction) which, when clicked, adds or removes the current page from bookmarks. If the page is bookmarked (or removed from bookmarks) in some other way, the icon is updated to show the state of the page’s bookmarking.

SeleniumHQ Browser Automation

Saved by uncleflo on April 10th, 2021.

Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well. If you want to create robust, browser-based regression automation suites and tests, scale and distribute scripts across many environments, then you want to use Selenium WebDriver, a collection of language specific bindings to drive a browser - the way it is meant to be driven. If you want to create quick bug reproduction scripts, create scripts to aid in automation-aided exploratory testing, then you want to use Selenium IDE; a Chrome and Firefox add-on that will do simple record-and-playback of interactions with the browser.

Micro-interactions, transitions, and in-app animations should do one great job, which is to explain the logic of an app to a user and improve the overall app usability. You might hear it many times: good design is obvious, but great design is transparent. This saying is surely one of the biggest truths of user experience design. Especially when it comes to in-app animations.

ABB Robotics - Milling Sculpture in Natural Stone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn0whytzD3o

Saved by uncleflo on November 29th, 2018.

In the last few years Robot integrator T&D in collaboration with a leading supplier of natural stone, Marmi e Graniti d'Italia (MGI), has applied its technology and innovation for applications in the stone industry. One of the latest frontiers in the field is definitely the interaction between ABB robots and natural stone. Using the creation of a replica of artist Amedeo Modigliani's infamous "HEAD" sculpture in white granite, T&D explored the application of a robotic milling system to evaluate whether industrial robots are capable of the demands and challenges that processing stone requires. The results of the experiment surpassed all expectations offering a quality of cut comparable to CNC machinery. The possibility of perfecting the approach, integrating milling and polishing, is currently being explored in collaboration with ABB integrator T&D Robotics.

Ricoh’s Theta V Is Sharper and More Powerful, But Let's Talk About 360 Video...

Ricoh has been in the 360-degree camera game for a long time—way before johnny-come-latelies like Samsung and Nikon. Things started back in 2013 with the original Ricoh Theta and now four years later, the company is back with the $430 Theta V. New features include 4K video and spatial audio capture, however, even with all those bells and whistles I’m having a hard getting excited about Ricoh’s new camera. The problem isn’t with the camera itself, it’s the medium. As I think back on the thousands of videos I watched since 2013, not a single 360 video sticks out in my a something truly memorable. Even when I dig a little deeper and consider things like Casey Neistat’s video about droneboarding or a tour through California Extreme with Steve Lin and Drew Scanlon, the source of the white blinking guy meme, I can’t help but think that both of these clips would have been better as boring flat clips.

The 7 Best Storytelling Infographics You Need to Check Out Now

Do you like TV ads? How about magazine ads? Do you pay attention to them or do you just skip them? Now let me ask you another question: Do you like stories? Do you enjoy being immersed into an exciting narrative allowing you to escape reality and enter a new world? I like stories. I like to let my brain follow the imaginative flow of a good story and visualise the narrative, the heroes, the actions and happenings of what I am reading, watching or experiencing. As a marketer you are probably used to relying more on hard facts and lists of benefits rather than engaging stories. That might have worked in the Mad Man era, but in the world of real-time, non-stop social interactions and online content it no longer does.

Marco Bonzanini - Mining Twitter Data with Python (Part 1: Collecting data)

Saved by uncleflo on February 19th, 2018.

Twitter is a popular social network where users can share short SMS-like messages called tweets. Users share thoughts, links and pictures on Twitter, journalists comment on live events, companies promote products and engage with customers. The list of different ways to use Twitter could be really long, and with 500 millions of tweets per day, there’s a lot of data to analyse and to play with. This is the first in a series of articles dedicated to mining data on Twitter using Python. In this first part, we’ll see different options to collect data from Twitter. Once we have built a data set, in the next episodes we’ll discuss some interesting data applications. Update July 2016: my new book on data mining for Social Media is out! Part of the content in this tutorial has been improved and expanded as part of the book, so please have a look. Chapter 2 about mining Twitter is available as a free sample from the publisher’s web site, and the companion code with many more examples is available on my GitHub

To expand on my previous article on how to create Objects in JavaScript using Prototypal Inheritence, this article will show you how to implement Event Driven Programming with those objects. Implementing Event Driven Programming in JavaScript sounds difficult, but it's actually rather simpel to implement. To keep with the Prototypal Inheritence theme, we'll create an "EventObject" class that will have the plumbing necessary for implementing Events, and then we'll inherit that class with a simple "Person" class that will have an "onnamechanged" event.

Saved by uncleflo on June 20th, 2014.

A promise represents the eventual result of an asynchronous operation. The primary way of interacting with a promise is through its then method, which registers callbacks to receive either a promise's eventual value or the reason why the promise cannot be fulfilled. This specification details the behavior of the then method, providing an interoperable base which all Promises/A+ conformant promise implementations can be depended on to provide. As such, the specification should be considered very stable. Although the Promises/A+ organization may occasionally revise this specification with minor backward-compatible changes to address newly-discovered corner cases, we will integrate large or backward-incompatible only after careful consideration, discussion, and testing.
