Few days ago, Apple introduced iPhone 6 Plus. The new iPhone substantially changes the way graphics are rendered on screen. We've made an infographic to demystify this. The downscaling ratio is 1920 / 2208 = 1080 / 1242 = 20 / 23. That means every 23 pixels from the original render have to be mapped to 20 physical pixels. In other words the image is scaled down to approximately 87% of its original size.

IF there’s a symbol for the idea that privacy is on people’s minds, it’s the Blackphone. The Blackphone, which went on sale this week for $629, is billed as the first smartphone built solely with privacy and security in mind. It is definitely more secure than your average phone, but comes with trade-offs that most consumers might not need or enjoy. It’s probably best for reporters, dissidents and companies concerned with corporate security.

The main criteria of this post is to help you add a cool effect called the “cover flow/open flow” effect to any of your iphone apps. This is cool in two ways actually. One it adds animation kind of effect to your app and the other, its very easy to build too. I got to learn about this effect when I was working on my “pianos” app where in i’ll have bunch of animals to select which would be displayed as a menu using this “cover flow” effect. Once a particular animal is selected your piano view for that animal comes up. My piano app will be out soon and you can check that out. The source for this post is the link displayed below.

jQuery Mobile doesn’t deviate far from the pattern established by its sibling libraries: provide something that normalises functionality and/or design across browsers and operating systems. The work by the Filament Group has been vital for standardising the look and feel of jQuery Mobile, especially when dealing with incredibly dated or under-featured mobile browsers. Borrowing upon conventions established by both the iOS and Android operating systems, they created something that is palatable across a range of devices.

I'm pulling my hair out over this. I just downloaded the iPhone 3.0 SDK, but now I can't get my provisioning profiles to work. Here is what I have tried: Delete all provisioning profiles. Delete login keychain. Create new "login" keychain, make it default. Create a new certificate signing request. Create new developer and distribution certificates in the Apple developer center. Download and install them. Download the WWDR certificate and install it. Create a new provisioning profile and double click it to install. All the certificates report as valid, but Xcode still won't recognize them. What should I try next?. I completely re-installed Mac OS X and from a fresh install installed the 3.0 SDK and still have the same problem.

Electronic devices can use lots of different methods to detect a person's input on a touch screen. Most of them use sensors and circuitry to monitor changes in a particular state. Many, including the iPhone, monitor changes in electrical current. Others monitor changes in the reflection of waves. These can be sound waves or beams of near-infrared light. A few systems use transducers to measure changes in vibration caused when your finger hits the screen's surface or cameras to monitor changes in light and shadow.

Today is officially the day of freakin’ awesome DIY stuff. I really like this one considering it wraps three things I really like – gadgets, robots, and awesome – into one package. PachimonDotCom has taken the iPad, iPod nano, and the iPhone 4 and turned them into walking robots. The eyes of the robot are on the screens of the devices as you can see. The little legs are homemade and remind me of DIY versions of the feet you see on all sorts of wind up walking toys. When the bots wake up the eyes start moving and then they stand up and start walking the whole thing is pretty darn cool and cute. This would make a cool toy for Apple gadgets, it seems like you should be able to create an app that would let you program a pattern the gadgets could walk. Check out the videos below.
