Because of where we're based we have direct access to the Tidal Thames Estuary. We are a recognised RYA training centre, and are I.C.C. registered for all courses. RYA Day Skipper Practical is a course for those who are ready for more responsibility. It gives you the skills to skipper your own boat safely and confidently on tidal and non – tidal waters. If you’re planning a flotilla holiday or bareboat charter holiday, this is the course for you. With tuition from our highly qualified Instructors, this course has long been one of our most popular. In five days we’ll teach you the skills to skipper a cruising yacht. Although this is a more demanding course than Competent Crew, we’ll make time for swimming, sunbathing, and a few good bottles of wine along the way. Day Skipper teaches you the skills you’ll need to skipper a small yacht by day. It’s a fairly intense course, covering navigation, passage planning, practical pilotage, seamanship and boat-handling, including ‘Med’-mooring – everything you need to become a confident skipper. The RYA Online Day Skipper course is a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board. Unlike other online learning organisations, this course does not use video CD but a FULLY interactive learning suite. No matter where you are in the world, the Day Skipper course can be tailored to your requirements. There are no pre-course requirements for this RYA online Day Skipper theory course, but some sailing knowledge is helpful. Lot's Ait - Boatyard on the Thames

Lots Ait Boatyard is situated on an island in the river Thames between Kew Gardens and Brentford. An important part of London's commercial boating history, it was one of the last tidal boatyards to be closed in the early 1970's. Thanks partly to its island location, Lots Ait avoided re-development and has remained very much as it was left over 30 years ago with weeds and undergrowth hiding the vintage boat sheds and machinery that were formerly a hive of activity. John Watson, owner of John's Boat Works Ltd says "I have a lifelong passion for traditional boatbuilding and our great boating heritage, so having the opportunity to be involved in reopening Lots Ait boatyard is a dream come true. The revitalised boatyard will provide a fantastic boatbuilding and repair resource on the Thames for boat owners and enthusiasts and will also provide an opportunity for a new generation of craftsmen and women to experience and acquire traditional and modern boatbuilding and restoration skills."
