Youtube video on how to build a floating dock in pond. I walk you through the build process for our floating dock. We used plastic 55 gallon barrels (drums) to float it and decked it with Trex composite decking. It turned our really nice. If you have any questions as you build one for yourself, please reach out in the comments. Thanks and enjoy!

Got lucky enough to snag a truckload of treated lumber on Craigslist for FREE. Had a friend with a hookup for the barrels for FREE. Already had nails and screws. Had to buy a few bags of quikrete and a 4x4 for the ramp posts, and some hardware for connecting the ramp to the posts and the ramp to the dock. All in all I have put in about $40 (and a week's worth of evening work at a leisurely pace). Not bad for a 12x14 dock with a 3.5x10 ramp for our half-acre pond!

If you want to build a pier or a dock, you need good, sturdy pilings or posts to support it. Unless you have the heavy equipment to drive the pilings into the ground, you’ll either need to use a jet of water to dig a deep hole or set the pilings in concrete footers. Jetting is better for sandy soil, while concrete is more stable for muddy beds. Although this project may require some special tools and a couple of people to lend a helping hand, you’ll be able to enjoy fun on the waterfront for years to come! If you need to install posts in the water for a dock or a pier, measure and cut pilings made of pressure-treated wood. The pilings should be the length you need to support your structure, plus an extra 4-6 feet that you can bury in the ground. Have some friends help you stand the first piling in the water, then aim the tip of a high-powered hose or a water jetter at the base of the piling and turn on the pump. The force of the water should blast away the sand and mud beneath the wood, creating a hole so you can sink the piling. Keep reading to learn how to pour concrete posts!

The Dock Edge hardware system is designed for use with 1-1/2″ thick lumber (minimum width 6″). All hardware is mounted with carriage bolts. Always use backer plates or other piece of hardware when bolting through wood along with lock washers. This will eliminate the bolt pulling into or through the wood. This will allow the nuts to become loose and fall off. Proper chaining of a dock is critical. Use proper dock anchors (min 250lbs per anchor) and cross chains. If there is no water fluctuation chains may be pulled taut by having a few people stand on the corner while you tighten chain. Use a piano hinge or other arrangement for decking boards over anchor chain corners for easy access for adjustment.

The Club was founded in 1972 on Queen Mary Reservoir which was originally built between 1919 and 1924. We are very proud of our rich heritage as a top racing venue, the home of the iconic Bloody Mary as well as a friendly members Club with a firm place in the local community. The plans for building the reservoir were originally concieved in 1912 when it was first thought that two would be built. These were subsequently altered with the bund (or baffle) put in place to promote water circulation from inlet to outlet. This measure was considered to be important to promote the purity of the water prior to the introduction of chlorination in 1916. The reservoir was completed on Dec 31st 1924 and opened by King George V on June 12th 1925. It has a surface area of 707 acres and has a capacity of 6,700 million gallons. The length of the perimeter is nearly four miles and the City of London could easily be accommodated in it. Click here for more details.

Are you interested in visiting our state? In recent years, our little home in the Pacific Northwest has gotten a lot of attention. We’re flattered. People can’t seem to say enough about it. And a lot of the things they’ve been saying are true. We’ve partnered with Roadtrippers to provide a great way to plan a trip around Oregon. Packed with all the great resources you’ll find on TravelOregon.com, the Oregon Roadtrippers experience gets you from Point A to Point B (and C, D, and E), suggests stuff to do on the way, and let’s you take it with you on your smartphone. Not familiar with U.S. geography? Oregon is on the West Coast, right between Washington and California. Some people think it’s the best thing about the West Coast, and of course they’re right. Made up of seven diverse regions, Oregon has the ocean, mountains, valleys, high desert, cities, small towns, and almost everything in between.

Lake Peigneur is located in the U.S. State of Louisiana 1.2 miles (1.9 km) north of Delcambre and 9.1 miles (14.6 km) west of New Iberia, near the northernmost tip of Vermilion Bay. The lake was a 10-foot (3 m) deep freshwater lake popular with sportsmen until an unusual man-made disaster on November 20, 1980, changed the structure of the lake and surrounding land.
