We have all experienced the pain of getting started with React. You spend hours to configure webpack before you can start actual coding. Create React App was created to make it easier and quicker to get started. The problem with create react app is that it hides the webpack config. When your app grows and you need something a bit more advanced, you have to eject and then you get a huge webpack config. And then you are back to the problem that you need to learn webpack anyway. I tried it on a large code base, and it worked out-of-the-box! It even gave me a bundle that was optimized. I have spent days optimizing that bundle using webpack. I think this tool has potential. Let’s look at how to create a React app from scratch!

IIS URL Rewrite 2.1 enables Web administrators to create powerful rules to implement URLs that are easier for users to remember and easier for search engines to find. By using rule templates, rewrite maps, .NET providers, and other functionality integrated into IIS Manager, Web administrators can easily set up rules to define URL rewriting behavior based on HTTP headers, HTTP response or request headers, IIS server variables, and even complex programmatic rules. In addition, Web administrators can perform redirects, send custom responses, or stop HTTP requests based on the logic expressed in the rewrite rules.

I have two *.sql files that I use when creating a new web site database. The first file creates all the tables. The second file populates some default records. I would like to execute these files from PHP. I also use the Zend_Framework, if that will help accomplish this? Answer: This question comes up from time to time. There's no good solution for running a .sql script directly from PHP. There are edge cases where statements common in a .sql script can't be executed as SQL statements. For example, the mysql tool has builtin commands that are not recognized by the MySQL Server, e.g. CONNECT, USE, and DELIMITER.

Bootswatchr.com is a website where a bootstrap theme can be custom designed, using CSS Less variables. A quick update to let you all know that Bootswatchr is moving from Ubiquity Servers to Digital Ocean as of today. DNS is propagating, and I am keeping the old server up so that there should be plenty of time for propagation and we can hopefully avoid hiccups. This is very sudden and last minute. I want to assure you all that, for the time being, Bootswatchr isn’t going anywhere, this wasn’t a budget decision, and you shouldn’t lose any data. Your data is stored client side anyway.

Each of the above methods may or may not work, depending on the user's browser version/settings and your site configuration. Here's why the above methods might not work. Note also that methods (1) and (2) won't work if you try to pass a parameter to a destination page on a different website. (For security reasons, unsigned scripts can share cookies and variables only if the scripts reside on the same website – same-origin policy.)

Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure, DNS forwarder and DHCP server. It is designed to provide DNS and optionally, DHCP, to a small network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP/TFTP for network booting of diskless machines.

Before you edit any files, you'll need to obtain some information. Log into the Linode Manager and click the "Remote Access" tab. You'll find your IP addresses (both public and private, if you have a private IP assigned), gateways, netmasks and DNS resolvers. Keep this information handy, because you'll need to refer to it as you configure your Linode's network settings. Since Linodes only have one virtual ethernet interface (eth0), you'll need to assign additional IPs to aliases on that interface. This means you'll append a colon and a number to the interface name. For these examples, the aliases are numbered in the order they were given, but most outbound connections will originate from the IP assigned to the eth0 interface. If you need server daemons to bind to a particular IP address, you'll need to specify the correct IP in their configuration files.

The first step for configuring a DHCP client is to make sure the kernel recognizes the network interface card. Most cards are recognized during the installation process and the system is configured to use the correct kernel module for the card. If a card is added after installation, Kudzu[6] should recognize it and prompt for the configuration of the corresponding kernel module for it. Be sure to check the Hardware Compatibility List available at http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/. If the network card is not configured by the installation program or Kudzu and you know which kernel module to load for it, refer to Chapter 37, Kernel Modules for details on loading kernel modules.

This covers setting up a SSH access controlled Git server from scratch. It’s assuming there is no other repository to import from. It is loosely based on the instructions from Chapter 4 of the Pro Git book. Installing Git is simple. You might also want to grab gitk for visualizing your commits and branches, and kdiff3 for merging changes.

The goal of this tutorial is to show you how to set up a public share on your Samba server that can be used by everyone on your network with all rights. This will enable everyone on a Windows machine to access this without a password. Of course, this has security implications but it is a good way to get something working. The next article will show you how to create a share for one user in which that one user is the only one who can access the share.

With the release of Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) xorg.conf was left largely redundant, at least, that was the theory. Something called EDID can be used for detecting a monitor's display capabilities, but it doesn't always work. This is usually down to monitor issues, or the video cable connected to it. If the EDID data cannot get through to the graphics adapter, then the graphics adapter knows nothing! For some reason Intel cards seem to be particularly prone to dodgy display detection, and my examples here will reflect that.
