https://www.poseidon.com/en-se/regulators/cyklon/

Saved by uncleflo on September 4th, 2022.

Only through years and years of use by divers around the world can a regulator truly find its limits. Poseidon's Cyklon has been put to the test for over six decades. Through continuous and gradual improvements, the Cyklon guarantees the highest performance under all circumstances. Our first. Introduced in 1958, the Cyklon is a true legend. Updated to X with the Xstream first stage. The Cyklon comes in four versions, the Cyklon X, the Cyklon X Metal, the Cyklon 5000 and the Cyklon Metal. The standard version has a plastic body in either black or yellow while the Cyklon Metal encases the second stage in high quality brass. See differences and other technical details in the specifications. A unique design allows use from both left and right Reliability to an entirely new level, making it the regulator of choice for many professional divers including the German Navy.

Bird Flight

http://people.eku.edu/ritchisong/554notes2.html

Saved by uncleflo on April 17th, 2021.

Exactly how birds acquired the ability to fly has baffled scientists for years. Archaeopteryx provided a starting point for speculation. Built like a dinosaur, but with wings, scientists guessed at how a hypothetical ancestor might have taken flight. Some scientists support the arboreal hypothesis (e.g., Feduccia 1996) and suggest that the ancestors of Archaeopteryx lived in trees and glided into flapping flight (Figure to the right). But others argue that the claws of Archaeopteryx weren't suited to climbing. So, others support the cursorial hypothesis (e.g., Burgers and Chiappe 1999) and suggest that these ancestors used their long, powerful legs to run fast with their arms outstretched, and were at some point lifted up by air currents and carried into flapping flight.

Saved by uncleflo on March 28th, 2016.

This document provides a quick guide to how to transfer your email and account settings from one Ubuntu computer to another with Evolution. It has been tested on Evolution versions 2.2 -> 2.4 (Hoary -> Breezy). The same procedure applies if you want to transfer your email from one user to another on the same computer. There is a plugin available for recent versions of evolution that will do this automatically for you, but if this is not available, this guide should do the trick.

Where are the Evolution data files stored?

http://askubuntu.com/questions/293696/where-are-the-evolution-data-files-stored

Saved by uncleflo on March 28th, 2016.

Given that I do use Evolution, and that I have the Ubuntu 12.10, and that I have neither a ~/.evolution nor a ~/.gconf/.evolution file, where are the evolution files please? In particular, every time I try to modify a certain contact evolution crashes, among other problems. Yes, I've reported the bug. So I thought I'd modify the database or xml file directly.

The NASA Glenn Research Center serves as NASA's lead center for aeropropuision. Several programs are underway to explore revolutiolutionary airbreathing propulsion systems in response to the challenge of reducing the cost of space transportation. Concepts being investigated include rocket-based combined cycle (RBCC), pulse detonation wave, and turbine-based combined cycle (TBCC) engines.

American Institute of Steel Construction, Founded 1921 - There's always a solution in steel

https://www.aisc.org/

Saved by uncleflo on September 2nd, 2014.

When we started working on the project, we used a lot of cutting edge tools, especially in terms of 3-D modeling and the fabrication machinery used to execute this incredibly complex design. But since then, a funny thing has happened. What we thought was cutting edge has become the norm. However, when I tell this to people (even people in the steel industry), they initially look skeptical. They tell me steel is an old, mature, smoke-stack industry. But while steel has been the material of choice for construction for most of the past century, it doesn't mean it's not a modern industry with new technology (ranging from improvements in the properties of steel to better equipment and new communication and design tools). And fortunately, on September 19, you have a chance to see for yourself.

The Origin of Bipedalism

http://www.jqjacobs.net/anthro/paleo/bipedalism.html

Saved by uncleflo on May 19th, 2012.

The origin of bipedalism, a defining feature of hominids, has been attributed to several competing hypothesis. The postural feeding hypothesis (Hunt 1996) is an ecological model. The behavioral model (Lovejoy 1981) attributes bipedality to the social, sexual and reproductive conduct of early hominids. The thermoregulatory model (Wheeler 1991) views the increased heat loss, increased cooling, reduced heat gain and reduced water requirements conferred by a bipedal stance in a hot, tropical climate as the selective pressure leading to bipedalism.

BoxCar2D

Saved by uncleflo on February 27th, 2012.

Each car is a set of 8 randomly chosen vectors: direction and magnitude. All the vectors radiate from a central point (0,0) and are connected with triangles. For each wheel it randomly chooses a vertex to put the axle on, and picks an axle angle from 0 to 2 pi. If it chooses -1 for the vertex that wheel is turned off. There is nothing to prevent multiple wheels from being on the same vertex. Users: So very insightful and deeply thought provoking. You must be a genius.; Really hypnotic and fun to watch!; 71 generations and I'm stuck at 923 for the last 50 generations. Bug in program :( ->That's not a bug. It's a local maxima. No change to 5% if its DNA will result in a higher score, so it stays there. Increase the mutation rate, and (eventually) it will climb. Though it will go through a whole lot of shitty generations first. It's a problem inherent with all simple genetic algorithms.
