Plymouth is a coastal naval town in the county of Devon in the South West of England. Plymouth largely has a reputation as being a bit "rough," with a relatively high portion of poverty, as well as a very lively, and slightly crazy nightlife; however, Plymouth still has a lot to offer, with a fruitful maritime history, many historic buildings, museums, an aquarium, and an old natural harbour. Plymouth is also an ideal base for many excursions to nearby attractions, such as hiking or cycling trips to Dartmoor, sailing or kayaking trips to Mouth Batten Peninsula, and boat trips to visit the naval warships. There is also a regular ferry service that operates to the nearby Mount Batten Peninsula.

This paper presents an overview of a humanoid soccer robot, build out of readily available hardware. The system architecture is covered in detail thereby enabling the reader to build a starter system for entering bipedal, humanoid soccer competitions. The structure of motion-pages of a Bioloid robot is presented. A vision algorithm to detect goal posts, used for Self-Localisation of the robot, is described. The robot's performance in the FIRA WorldCup 2007 is analysed and some improvements suggested.

A team from a Devon university has managed what no British home nation has managed this summer - competing in a European football tournament's finals. The University of Plymouth team is taking part in Euroby 2008, the robot football equivalent of Euro 2008, also being held in Austria and Switzerland. The university side consists of three humanoid robots, each one operating independently with an onboard computer.

Each car is a set of 8 randomly chosen vectors: direction and magnitude. All the vectors radiate from a central point (0,0) and are connected with triangles. For each wheel it randomly chooses a vertex to put the axle on, and picks an axle angle from 0 to 2 pi. If it chooses -1 for the vertex that wheel is turned off. There is nothing to prevent multiple wheels from being on the same vertex. Users: So very insightful and deeply thought provoking. You must be a genius.; Really hypnotic and fun to watch!; 71 generations and I'm stuck at 923 for the last 50 generations. Bug in program :( ->That's not a bug. It's a local maxima. No change to 5% if its DNA will result in a higher score, so it stays there. Increase the mutation rate, and (eventually) it will climb. Though it will go through a whole lot of shitty generations first. It's a problem inherent with all simple genetic algorithms.

We work hard to make sure that we keep to our scheduled train timetable, and avoid trains being delayed or cancelled. However, when things do go wrong, we will provide compensation, where relevant, for your journey. If your journey is delayed by more than one hour, we will compensate the full value, in National Rail travel vouchers, of the part of the journey that was delayed, ie 50% of the cost of a return, and 100% of a single ticket. If you are delayed for more than two hours, we will compensate the full cost of your ticket. If you hold a Weekly Season Ticket, we will base your compensation on the daily value of your ticket. Compensation will not be available for disruption resulting from events beyond the control of the rail industry, including trespass, vandalism, severe weather conditions and security alerts.
