Sasha Grey is the adult industry's reigning princess of porn, a rock & roll 21-year-old with an actual mission statement — "Most of the XXX I see is boring, and does not arouse me physically or visually. I am determined and ready to be a commodity that fulfills everyone's fantasies" — and few taboos. Rolling Stone's Vanessa Grigoriadis jumped into Grey's wild world for a profile in the new issue, and describes the Kate Beckinsale lookalike as "the smartest person I've ever met in that industry" (Grigoriadis has previously visited porn sets to profile XXX goddesses like Jenna Jameson).

I was wondering how much sarcasm is used in French, compared to English, and under what conditions? Is there any characteristic aspect of French sarcasm (tone of voice, gesture, whatever) that would give a clue to an easily-confused Anglophone (such as myself) that a French speaker is being sarcastic, and so not to take him/her literally (which would be a huge mistake!)?

Samuel Mullet, the ringleader of a group behind a spate of beard- and hair-cutting attacks on members of an Amish community in Ohio, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Mullet, along with nine men and six women, were last year found guilty of assaulting dissenting members of an Amish community in Ohio in 2011. According to prosecutors, five attacks targeted Amish who defied Mullet’s authoritarian leadership of the settlement, which, like other Amish communities, strives to insulate itself from modernity.

Debbie Moore founded the internationally renowned Pineapple Dance Studios in the location of an old pineapple warehouse in Covent Garden, central London, in 1979. The philosophy behind the creation of Pineapple Dance Studios was to break down the elitist barriers surrounding dance, and make it available to everyone, from the absolute beginner to the advanced and professional dancer. Pineapple offers more classes and the widest variety of dance styles than any other studio in Europe. There are nearly 40 different varieties to choose from, ranging from classical ballet to street jazz, hip hop to salsa, Egyptian dance to Bollywood grooves plus many more. We teach over 200 classes a week to over 3,500 members, at all levels and to all ages (from dancers who are 4 years of age to those in their 80s). Many of the teachers at Pineapple offer private dance lessons for those who prefer one-to-one tuition, either as a taster lesson, with a group of friends, or for longer periods.
