If you’re buying your first home or getting ready to invest in securities for the first time, you probably have a lot of questions. The first and most important should be, “How do interest rates work?” This is an invaluable first question to ask because it’ll govern how you look at your investment – whether you’re a borrower taking on new debt or an investor calculating ROI. The fact is interest rates are the defining variables that control investments. Even more important than time, interest rates dictate what you can expect to gain from an equity or owe in debt. But they’re not just numbers – they have meaning and purpose. Understanding how interest rates work is your secret to maximizing your choices when it comes to investing. Here’s what you should know about this all-important governing factor. An interest rate is a percentage of a principal value that’s owed in regular intervals over the term of an investment. It’s the cost of borrowing money. Or, if you’re the creditor, it’s your rate of return. An interest rate is what makes lending money lucrative, and it’s a way of determining the cost of borrowing before you decide to take a loan. Here’s a simple example:

Paphos International Sailing Club (known as PISC) was formed in 1999 by a group of sailing enthusiasts, the purpose being to promote all aspects of sailing and boating in Cyprus. During the early years of the Club's existence, activities for the most part involved the sharing of common interests and knowledge in a social setting. Today the Club consists of three active sections: Power Boating, Dinghy Sailing and Offshore Cruising. The aims of the Club remain the same, which is to promote sailing and boating in a friendly self-help Club with great atmosphere. We offer various boating events throughout the year, including Dinghy Regattas, Power Boat Treasure Hunts and Cruising Rallies in the Meditteranean, as well as numerous social get-togethers such as Beach Barbeques, Quiz Nights, Ten-pin Bowling and Dinner-Dances. The Club pays close attention to safety and follows RYA and Cypriot protocols in all activities on the water. We have two Rigid Inflatable safety boats manned by fully trained club members, which are on duty at every event. The Club conducts numerous courses for members in sailing proficiency and safety throughout the year.

I don't sail but this idea interests me. Why couldn't a turbine of some description be fitted to the underside or even integrated into the keel to add to energy produced That is called an hydrogenerator and many oceanic sailboats use them. On the Vendee Globe, the non stop sailing race around the world most boats have two. They are expensive, with a price around 4/5000 euros. Finally somebody is working actively in what seems to be an obvious way to generate electric electricity on sailboats: Photo-voltaic sails. Till now the technology did not allow for panels flexible enough to allow that but on last years the technology has evolved a lot. It is already possible and it will not be expensive in the future. At least a sail manufacturer is working already actively on that, the UKsails France branch.

The J Class Association (JCA) was founded to protect the interests of the Class, present and future. To keep the J-Class fleet and races alive and to encourage new build yachts to enter the field, new Class rules were established for the construction of Replica Rebuilds from original plans. One of the key drivers of the J-Class revival was the decision of the J-Class Association to allow aluminium and other materials to be used as a hull construction material. This reinforced the renewed interest among owners to build J-class yachts. After a performance analysis by Gerard Dijkstra of the existing J's as well as the designs that were allowed to be built under the new JCA rules, a specific J Class handicap system was developed in order to enable all yachts built to the J Class designs to race against each other regardless of size, sail area or hull construction.

What is Passive Income? The common definition of passive income is income that you earn without being actively involved. That typically means that you continue to make income with no or very little effort on your part to maintain that cash flow. For the purpose of this article, we are going to lump passive income and portfolio income into the passive category, and active income into the non-passive category – although the IRS categorizes and treats each type of income differently. You can see why the idea of passive income would be appealing. Typically when someone needs additional income, they get the stereotypical suggestion to “get a part-time job.” But what if you don’t have the time or energy to put in all those extra hours? I know I didn't. Plus, that wasn't as appealing as making money without needing to trade my time. For that, you may need some passive income ideas – ways to make money with little investment of time and effort on your part. And a great benefit of this is if you are trying to pay off debt quickly, this can be a huge help! Here’s a list of quite a few passive income ideas, so it’s likely that you’ll be able to find at least two or three that cater to your situation and skills.

Recently I’ve been putting together a Web application for a research project. I decided it was about time I really looked properly into REST so my Web interfaces are better structured. I won’t go into all the benefits here, you can read for yourself. Suffice to say it seems like a good approach to take.
