Suitable for new builds, home extensions and retrofitting, the Showersave QB1-21 and Showersave QB1-21C use the heat from the water flowing out of the shower to warm up the cold water going in. This simple heat exchange mechanism means that you spend less money on electricity or gas heating up the water to your shower. Can also be installed under "shower over bath" plumbing situations. WRAS approved. The hot and cold waters are kept separate by the double walled copper pipe design. An efficiency of +60% depending on flow rate. The QB1-21 superseds the old RECOH-VERT RV3 system. The unit is exactly the same size, however the energy efficiency has been improved. The Cyclone Top Fitting increases the efficiency of the Showersave by making the hot waste shower water swirl around and down through the central copper pipe of the Showersave. This increases the amount of time the hot water is in contact with copper pipe to maximise heat transfer. Greater heat recovery is achieved with the Cyclone top.

Geothermal energy is the second most abundant source of heat on earth, after solar energy. It is the natural heat energy stored in the earth. This energy is contained in about 260 billion cubic metres of rocks and metallic alloys, just below the outer surface of the earth, that are at or near their melting points (Lanterman & Lee, 2007). Calculations show that the Earth, originating from a completely molten state, would have cooled and become completely solid if the only energy input was that of the Sun, so it is believed that the ultimate source of geothermal energy is the decay of naturally radioactive isotopes (Dincer et al., 2007). The thermal energy from the earth continuously flows outwards. This heat transfer from the core to the surrounding mantle is principally via conduction. When the temperature and pressure of the system becomes high enough, some of the rocks that make up the mantle melt and form magma. As the liquid magma is less dense than surrounding rocks, it slowly rises, convecting thermal heat towards the earth’s crust (Lanterman & Lee, 2007).

When sailors are talking about their boats they often refer to ratios and numbers. That´s a tendency in human behaviour to try to generalize things to make them comparable. Of course, everybody knows that you cannot really describe apple to pears and so it´s worthless to describe a let´s say Seventies IOR-era King´s Cruiser 33 like mine to a modern day cruising yacht but we nevertheless tend to do so. The Displacement-Length-Ratio in general is a non-dimensional number. It sets into relation the displacement of a boat (expressed in pounds) to the length of her waterline (in feet). So, in general, this ratio is looking for the relation between the (heavy?) volume of water being pushed aside by a boat´s hull and the length (and therefore speed potential see for my article Hull speed vs. Froude number here) of her hull. Sounds fair enough?

These notes relate to the stresses and strains existing in thick walled cylinders when subject to internal and external pressures. The notes include the analysis of two or more cylindrical parts, assembled by press fitting or shrinking, resulting in an interference fit between the parts. The equations resulting enable estimates of the forces need to assemble and separate the parts and the maximum torque which can be transmitted by the assembly. The heterogeneity in a composite material is introduced due to not only its bi-phase or in some cases multi-phase composition, but also laminations. This leads to a distinctly different stress strain behaviour in the case of laminates. The anisotropy caused due to fibre orientations and the resulting extension-shear and bending-twisting coupling as well as the extension-bending coupling developed due to unsymmetric lamination add to the complexities. A clear understanding of the constitutive equations of a composite laminate is thus desirable before these are used in analysis and design of composite structures. In this chapter, we first introduce to the readers the basic constitutive equations for a general three-dimensional anisotropic material with and without material symmetry, elastic constants and compliances and their relations to engineering constants, as well as transformation laws for elastic constants and compliances for both three and two-dimensional cases.

The CPCe (Coral Point Count with Excel extensions) program is a Windows-based software (PC use only) that provides a tool for the determination of coral cover using transect photographs. A specified number of spatially random points are distributed on a transect image and the features underlying the points are user-identified. Coverage statistics are then calculated and the results sent to Excel spreadsheets automatically.

This calculator is intended to provide a faster more convenient alternative to printed tables and charts (e.g. NACA Report 1135). The core of the code was written in Javascript by William Devenport at the Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department, Virginia Tech. Five sets of relations are included; The relations themselves are taken from standard aerodynamics texts. Symbols have their usual meanings. 'Gamma' and 'rho' are substituted for the corresponding greek letters denoting the ratio of specific heats and density. Subscript 'o' is used to refer to stagnation or total conditions, superscript '*' refers to sonic conditions.

Just some quick terminology: miner = program which is external to bitcoin-qt.exe that uses your graphics card to perform calculations; your GPU is much more efficient at the type of calculations bitcoin does than your CPU
