PYI Inc. | PSS Type A Shaft Seal

http://www.shaftseal.com/pss-type-a-seal.html

Saved by uncleflo on February 6th, 2022.

Product Specifications: PSS Type A Seal Dimensions The Type A PSS Shaft Seal is a mechanical face seal. The sealing surface is created between the flat surfaces of the rotating stainless-steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange. The stationary carbon flange is attached to the front side of the bellows with hose clamps, and the back end of the bellows fits over the Stern tube and is secured with hose clamps. The stainless-steel rotor is fitted on the shaft in front of the carbon flange. The stainless-steel rotor compresses the bellows before the rotor is secured to the shaft with set screws. This compression (pre-load) maintains constant contact between the two flat faces of the stainless-steel rotor and carbon flange, allowing the PSS to compensate for the variable fore and aft movement due to propeller thrust. In addition, the carbon flange is over-bored to the shaft diameter allowing it to “float” around the shaft and thus compensate for most misalignment and vibration problems. The stainless-steel rotor is sealed to the shaft by two O-rings recessed into the collar's bore. These O-rings rotate with the shaft and stainless-steel rotor and do not experience wear during operation.

AgustaWestland Project Zero - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgustaWestland_Project_Zero

Saved by uncleflo on December 22nd, 2019.

The AgustaWestland Project Zero is a hybrid tiltrotor/Lift fan aircraft. It has been developed by AgustaWestland as a technology demonstrator, and is used to investigate all-electric propulsion and other advanced technologies. It is the world's first electric tiltrotor aircraft. In December 2010, AgustaWestland's management approved the formation of a team under James Wang with the intention of producing a technology demonstrator incorporating as many new innovations as possible on a single airframe. Speaking in 2013, Wang noted that electric technologies were rapidly advancing, and that the function of Project Zero was to achieve readiness with electric aircraft technologies: "Rather than waiting for the battery to become even better, then working on electric aircraft technology, the team has positioned itself to be ready for the next generation of batteries".

AC motor / synchronous / 48V / variable reluctance - AR series - ISGEV

https://www.directindustry.com/prod/isgev/product-19782-58311.html

Saved by uncleflo on December 19th, 2019.

The AR series sealed, external ventilation motors are built with IEC unified dimensions and construction configurations. The stator is built with a three-phase winding while the anisotropic rotor is designed to generate the synchronisation torque. Motors in this series are available with 4 and 6 poles. This series is completely maintenance-free and this feature, together with the control through inverter, makes these machines suitable for a large number of applications. Reluctance synchronous motors are mainly used in the textile and glass industry, in the sector of plastic materials and for the applications requiring speed adjustment independently of load values.

diesel hp VS electric hp - Glen-L.com

The Boatbuilder Connection I would like to know if,when replacing a diesel engine with an electric motor someone need to look for the same HP for the electric motor as the hp the diesel had. probably not the exact same HP, because electric motors have more torque at lower RPMs than an internal cumbustion engine

Google Patents - Variable speed wind turbine

http://www.google.com/patents/US5083039

Saved by uncleflo on April 5th, 2015.

A variable speed wind turbine is disclosed comprising a turbine rotor that drives an AC induction generator, a power converter that converts the generator output to fixed-frequency AC power, a generator controller, and an inverter controller. The generator controller uses field orientation to regulate either stator currents or voltages to control the torque reacted by the generator. The inverter controller regulates the output currents to supply multi-phase AC power having leading or lagging currents at an angle specified by a power factor control signal.

The Magnetic Wankel engine should also be capable of COP > 1.0 and closed-loop self-powering, but apparently it has also been suppressed, as have all Japanese COP > 1.0 EM systems.
