Seac SZ 5000 is an underwater light characterized by high luminous power up to 4200 Lumens, ideal for both reef night diving or in environments where full visibility is required (cave or wrecks), and for underwater photographers. Despite being a very powerful light, its dimensions are relatively small: 65 mm in diameter and 178 mm in length enabling the diver to store in a BCD pocket or simply attach anywhere. The Seac SZ 5000 is made of high-strength aluminum with tempered optical glass lens and watertight NBR O-ring gasket. The light beam, with a width of 12 °, is 3 CREE SST 40 LEDs and adjustable from 1500 Lumens to 4200 Lumens. The burn-time is 2.5 hours at minimum power and 1 hour at maximum power. The flashlight is powered by an internal 7800 mAh lithium-ion battery rechargeable via USB-C (charge indicator on the battery itself). According to published reports, in the US out of the annual average of about 100 deaths due to lightning, approximately 13 are aboard boats. Suffice it to say that if lightning is a hazard where your boat will be used, a plan should be developed to deal with the possibility of a direct strike. In the Pacific Northwest lightning is relatively rare. In Florida, some areas annually have more than fifty strikes per square mile..! According to the well known lightning researcher Ewen Thompson, lightning can develop on the order of one hundred million volts, peak currents of tens of thousands of amps, and generate temperatures of some fifty five thousand degrees. Fortunately, it lasts only a fraction of a second, but within that time it can be deadly and / or very destructive. A lightning strike involves an extremely rapid change in an electric current, generating a momentary but extremely powerful magnetic field. This electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) will readily induce currents in adjacent wiring. Currents induced in wires by the EMP from a lightning strike may do some very weird things, such as fry every piece of electronics aboard. A strike nearby or on another boat can fry the electronics aboard your boat without even requiring an electrical connection or direct strike.

The result tables are simply split into two, one for the idle memory usage and one for the usage during a virus scan, both in alphabetical order. The colors are self explanatory with green the lightest antivirus and yellow second best. At the other end, red is the heaviest and orange the next most memory hungry. While these results obviously test the antivirus memory usage, they don’t take into account the features present in each application and its detection rates. Therefore you shouldn’t automatically assume lighter is better because a more memory efficient program might not have the amount of features of an antivirus using a few more Megabytes. If your current package is hungry for memory, this does give you a good idea of what the lightest antivirus packages are that you might like to look at a bit closer.

Welcome to the SVGBasics tutorials. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a standard from the W3C which is built on top of XML. The SVG standard describes ways that graphics can be drawn for use on the web. I've assembled here some examples that you can freely modify and reuse. The idea is to cover the basics with numerous examples that people can experiment with to get an idea of what SVG can do. The Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) recommendation comes from the W3C. The recommendation describes how to create vector graphics using a mark up language. Because SVG is based on XML, tools that already know how to interpret XML will be able to interpret SVG. Having this well-established standard as a foundation saves a lot of the work in defining the language. It also means that there are numerous tools around which can check the structure of an SVG document or read it to pull out interesting information.

When writing a ray tracer, sooner or later you’ll stumble on the problem of reflection and transmission. To visualize mirror-like objects, you need to reflect your viewing rays. To simulate a lens, you need refraction. While most people have heard of the law of reflection and Snell’s law, they often have difficulties with actually calculating the direction vectors of the reflected and refracted rays. In the following pages, exactly this problem will be addressed. As a bonus, some Fresnel equations will be added to the mix, so you can actually calculate how much light is reflected or transmitted (yes, it’s possible). At the end, you’ll have some usable formulas to use in your latest ray tracer.

Snell's law (also known as the Snell–Descartes law and the law of refraction) is a formula used to describe the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction, when referring to light or other waves passing through a boundary between two different isotropic media, such as water, glass, or air. In optics, the law is used in ray tracing to compute the angles of incidence or refraction, and in experimental optics to find the refractive index of a material. The law is also satisfied in metamaterials, which allow light to be bent "backward" at a negative angle of refraction with a negative refractive index.
