Once diving becomes a serious hobby, you might be interested in buying your own compressor for filling your tanks. There is nothing wrong with dive shops, but there’s nothing like being able to fill up your tank wherever you are. Since the air in your tank is a matter of life or death, the air compressor for your scuba tank needs to provide you with clean pressurized air. When you choose a scuba air tank compressor, it needs to be specifically made for diving. Unless the compressor delivers clean breathing air at high pressures, you risk injury or death when you dive. This guide will help you understand how a compressor works, what makes a scuba air compressor different from a normal one, and what to look for when buying one. Many companies build compressors, but only a few manufacture breathing air compressors for scuba diving. We recommend the following

The rquirement is to lift the boat's hull outside the water. Hydrofoil (It is a foil or wing under water used to lift the boat's hull until it is totally outside the water.) Explanation: 1. At low speeds the hull (body of ship) sits in the water and the hydrofoils are totally submerged in the water. 2. As the boat's speed increases, the hydrofoils create lift. 3. At a certain speed, the lift produced by the hydrofoils equals the sum of of the boat and cargo weights. Therefore the hull comes out of the water. 4. Instead of having an increase in drag with increasing speed because the hull is lifted out of the water (contrary to what happens in traditional boats due to pressure drag), the hydrofoils provide a more efficient way of cruising. Decreasing the drag contributes to the better use of the power needed for the movement of the boat.

An unparalled field of visión: i3 scuba mask combines the advantages of the Tri-comfort technology with a huge field of vision. In addition to the wide central glass, smaller panels on each side guarantee peripheral vision that will blow you away. The ergonomic 2-button buckles allow for easy and secure adjustment of the strap even when diving with thick gloves.Tri-Comfort. Small horizontal ribs between the frame and the skirt in the area around the nose. These ribs absorb and redistribute the pressure exerted by the frame onto the skirt, with a resulting increase in comfort. Sunrise Masks: Especially designed for the Asian market and wide faces.

Most boaters have one very important thing in common. The safety of their boats often depends on it. Their own safety - sometimes their lives - may depend on it. This thing is used on an everyday basis and also during emergencies and in storms. But few of us give it much thought. Few of us have a clue about what makes it good, bad or indifferent, although we should insist that it be "good." This thing is the pier. I have a clue now. I thought I did before, but I learned a few things recently because my pier of 27 years began falling apart. I had been concerned about it for some time because wooden pilings, stringers and crossties don't last forever in water full of things that eat wood. But the pier was supposedly well built, and it seemed to be doing its job, so I left it alone. As a result, I learned some things about what we should look for when we call a marina to seek shelter in a storm, rent a slip for a season, buy a "dockominium" or even rent a slip overnight. Doing any of these things without giving some thought to whether the pier can do the job you need could cause you big trouble.

How many times have you heard that a sail gives lift to drive a boat because, "the air travels faster on the lee side for it has farther to go than it does on the windward side. So the pressures are different and you get lift." Well, that is wrong! Even a perfectly flat thin airfoil, with the same distance on both sides, has lift when it is at an angle to the wind.

On the left is my excellent Preval vFan airbrush that Home Depot gave me to evaluate. You can see the hose has a standard 1/4″ male QD connector installed. On the right is a pressure regulator, with a standard female QD connector on the outlet side, and a scuba-to-NPT adapter on the inlet side. Plug that into an inflator hose on a scuba regulator, and set your output pressure on the inline regulator. A scuba regulator outputs about 140 psi, roughly the same as a compressor, while the airbrush wants 20-40 psi. The flow rate is more than adequate to drive the airbrush, and breathing air is already super-clean, so no filter necessary. A typical scuba tank holds 80-100 cuft at around 3000 psi, and costs well under $10 to refill at the dive shop. The vFan spec is 5 cfm at 20 psi, which works out to over 15 minutes of continual spraying, or several hours under real conditions. This could even drive a bigger spray gun for a useful amount of time, but I don’t think I will ever use it for anything but the airbrush, since Home Depot also gave me a nice compressor. It’s like Christmas every month.

Most enclosed boats will have some kind of water system on board, ranging from a single manual pump operated tap to a system featuring hot and cold water with mixer taps and showers. Marine plumbing can be a daunting subject but most pleasure craft designed for river use have surprisingly similar water systems and understanding the function of just a few key common components can really help to gain a good understanding of marine plumbing. Unlike domestic plumbing where water pressure is generally created by gravity, boats require an electric pump to generate water pressure as tanks are often level with or below the outlets they serve. The pump is therefore the heart of the system and works by cycling on and off to maintain the desired pressure and a good flow when you open a tap. Most pumps are switched on and off automatically via a pressure switch inside the pump, though some smaller pumps rely on micro switches within the taps themselves. Pumps do differ in the pressure they provide (usually in PSI) and the flow rate (usually in GPM or LPM). The size of your boat, the number of outlets the pump will serve and the complexity of the water system will dictate which pump you will need.
